Ball Bearings
Open bearings dissipate heat more efficiently than shielded and sealed bearings.
Shielded bearings block out dust and other contaminants, but do not dissipate heat as efficiently as open bearings.
Sealed bearings block out dust and other contaminants better than open and shielded bearings, but retain the most heat.
Bearings with retaining ring have a removable retaining ring that holds the bearing inside a housing.

Electrically Insulated Ball Bearings
Good for use in electric motors and power generators, these bearings have ceramic balls that insulate against stray current to prevent damage to the bearing. The ceramic balls generate less heat than steel balls, so they require lubrication less frequently.
Shielded bearings block out dust and other contaminants.
Sealed bearings block out dust and other contaminants better than open and shielded bearings but retain the most heat.

Set Screw Collar Ball Bearings
Slip these bearings onto a shaft and secure with the included set screws, no special tools required. All have an extended inner ring for additional shaft support.
Bearings with a black-oxide steel ring have some corrosion resistance.
Sealed bearings block out dust and other contaminants better than shielded bearings.
Bearings with a retaining ring have a removable retaining ring that holds the bearing inside a housing.

Needle-Roller Bearings
Also known as drawn-cup roller bearings, these are our thinnest roller bearings. The outer ring is drawn out to form a lip that holds the bearing together. Bearings take on the shape of their housing and may be oblong prior to installation.
Sealed bearings block out dust better than open bearings, but retain more heat.

Mounted Ball Bearings
Bearings are self-aligning to compensate for shaft misalignment. Seals block out dust and contaminants.
Bearings with nickel-plated cast iron housing are more corrosion resistant and durable than bearings with a cast iron housing.
Bearings with a set screw secure to shafts without using a collar. They let shafts rotate in both directions, so they’re good for applications where you need to reverse. However, the set screw will leave some marring on the shaft.
Bearings with eccentric lock have a collar that you twist in one direction to grip and the other to release. Compared to bearings with a set screw, they’re easier to install, require less adjustment over time, and are better for high-speed applications. But, they only work on shafts that spin in one direction.

Low-Profile Mounted Ball Bearings
Designed with a thin, compact housing, these bearings are good for space-constrained applications.
Bearings with steel housing are stronger than bearings with stainless steel and aluminum housings. They are self-aligning to compensate for shaft misalignment. Seals block out dust and contaminants.
Sealed bearings block out dust and other contaminants better than shielded bearings.

Extra-Clearance Mounted Ball Bearings
Keep shafts, such as those with a shoulder, clear of the mounting surface. These bearings have a higher mounting base that gives them more space to the mounting surface than standard mounting bases. All have a set screw for securing them to shafts without having to use a collar. The screw lets shafts rotate in both directions, so they’re good for applications where you need to reverse.

High-Temperature Mounted Ball Bearings
Synthetic grease or graphite enables these bearings to operate in high temperatures. They have an extended inner ring for additional shaft support. Seals block out dust and contaminants.
Bearings with graphite operate in temperatures up to 660° F, three times that of standard ball bearings, so they're a good choice for use in industrial ovens. However, they’re only for low-speed applications.

Bearings are self-aligning to compensate for shaft misalignment. Seals block out dust and contaminants.
Bearings with a set-screw shaft mount secure to shafts with no need for an additional collar. They can be used for bi-directional shaft rotation when applications require reversing action. The set screw may cause some marring on the shaft.
Bearings with an eccentric-lock shaft mount are better than bearings with a set-screw shaft mount for high-speed applications, but only rotate in a single direction.

Bearings are self-aligning to compensate for shaft misalignment. Seals block out dust and contaminants.
Set screw bearings secure to shafts as you tighten their screw. They don’t need a collar, but the screw leaves some marring on shafts. Use them in applications where shafts rotate in both directions.
Eccentric lock bearings are quick to install—twist them in one direction to tighten and the opposite to loosen. They’re better than set screw bearings for high speed applications, but they only work with shafts that rotate in one direction.
