Drill Bits

These jobbers'-length bits have the rigidity and length required for most applications.
Black-oxide and black-and-gold-oxide drill bits produce less friction than uncoated drill bits.
Titanium-nitride (TiN) coated drill bits last longer and can drill at higher speeds than uncoated and oxide-coated drill bits.
Titanium-aluminum-nitride (TiAlN) coated drill bits are the most wear and temperature resistant for the longest life and highest drilling speeds.
Drill bits with a split point keep centered without a pilot hole.

Chip-Clearing Drill Bits

These jobbers'-length bits have the rigidity and length required for most applications. The flutes are designed to lift chips out of the hole, reducing clogging and improving coolant flow.
Parabolic spiral flute drill bits have wider flutes for more efficient chip evacuation than spiral-flute bits.
Black-oxide drill bits produce less friction than uncoated drill bits.
Titanium-nitride (TiN) coated drill bits last longer and can drill at higher speeds than uncoated and black-oxide drill bits.

Short-Length Carbide-Tipped Drill Bits

Also known as screw-machine and stub-length bits, these provide maximum rigidity for drilling straighter holes than standard-length drill bits. Made of carbide-tipped steel, which has better wear resistance than high-speed steel and cobalt steel, they maintain a sharper, harder edge at high temperatures for excellent performance on abrasive material, such as plastic. Because they aren’t as brittle as solid carbide bits, they can be used in less rigid setups, such as a hand-held drill.
Drill bits with a split point keep centered without a pilot hole.
Drill bits with 135° point angle produce smaller chips than 118° point to prevent clogging.
For technical drawings and 3-D models, click on a part number.
1/4" Diameter Reduced-Shank Drill Bits

The shank has a smaller diameter than the tip, allowing you to drill large holes with machines that have small-capacity chucks.

Cobalt Steel Hex-Shank Drill Bits

In addition to resisting heat and wear better than high-speed steel drill bits, these can also run up to 25% faster and have a longer tool life. Insert them into power screwdrivers, impact drivers, and other tools that accept hex shanks. The flat surfaces on the hex shank allow tool chucks to grip these bits more securely than those with a round shank. A split point keeps the bits centered without a pilot hole.

Drill Bits for Plastic

The sharp point allows for gradual penetration to reduce friction and eliminate cracking and chipping when drilling in plastic. These bits are jobbers' length and have the rigidity and length required for most applications.

Drill Bits for Aluminum, Brass, and Bronze

Because softer metal, like aluminum, brass, and bronze, can clog a bit, the flutes on these bits lift chips out of the hole. Also known as slow-spiral drill bits. They are jobbers' length and have the rigidity and length required for most applications.

High-Speed Steel Left-Hand Drill Bits

Also known as reverse-flute bits, the flutes spiral in the opposite direction of other bits. Use in counterclockwise drilling applications such as removing broken screws. These bits are jobbers' length and have the rigidity and length required for most applications.

Hex-Shank Drill Bits with Guide for Countersunk Holes

The built-in guide has a beveled tip that fits into countersunk holes in hardware, such as hinges and latches, to center the bit. Guides are spring loaded; drilling pressure compresses the guide body and extends the drill bit into the workpiece. Insert directly into power screwdrivers, impact drivers, and other tools that accept a 1/4" hex shank. Also known as Vix bits.

Also known as subland drill bits, these last longer than standard counterboring drill bits because the diameter stays the same after sharpening. They drill and counterbore at the same time. After drilling and counterboring, tap the hole and install your fastener.

Slotted Bits with Screw Guide

Remove screws in hard-to-reach places. A spring-loaded sleeve guides bits onto the screw head and keeps them from slipping out. These bits have a groove in the shank and fit directly into power tools without an adapter. They offer more reach for recessed holes and less wobble compared to a hex shank bit used with an adapter.

Bit Adapters

Use hex-shank bits (also known as insert bits) in drills and powered screwdrivers. These adapters have a groove in the shank to fit in a power-tool chuck.

Ratcheting Bit Screwdrivers

A ratchet mechanism turns fasteners more quickly than a standard driver. Insert a bit into the shaft and a magnet holds it in place.
T-handle drivers have a longer reach and make it easier to turn fasteners from above.

Hardened Undersized High-Speed M2 Tool Steel Rods

- Yield Strength: Not Rated
- Hardness: Rockwell C60 (Very Hard)
These rods, also known as drill blanks, have an undersized diameter for machining your own jobbers'-length drill bits. They're hardened for increased abrasion and impact resistance. M2 tool steel offers a nice balance of wear resistance and machinability. It has a high molybdenum content, which allows it to maintain sharp cutting edges even at elevated temperatures.
