Carbide-Tipped Drill Bits

These jobbers'-length bits have the rigidity and length required for most applications. Made of carbide-tipped steel, which has better wear resistance than high-speed steel and cobalt steel, they maintain a sharper, harder edge at high temperatures for excellent performance on abrasive material, such as plastic. Because they aren’t as brittle as solid carbide bits, they can be used in less rigid setups, such as a hand-held drill.
Drill bits with a split point keep centered without a pilot hole.
Drill bits with 135° point angle produce smaller chips than 118° point to prevent clogging.

In addition to resisting heat and wear better than high-speed steel drill bits, these can also run up to 25% faster and have a longer tool life. Insert them into power screwdrivers, impact drivers, and other tools that accept hex shanks. The flat surfaces on the hex shank allow tool chucks to grip these bits more securely than those with a round shank. A split point keeps the bits centered without a pilot hole.

Adjustable-Size Flat-Blade Drill Bits for Wood

Cut a variety of hole sizes with one bit—slide the blade to the desired cutting diameter marked on the bit and then tighten the screw. Bits include two blades, each with a different size range. Use in a drill press; they are not recommended for use with handheld drills. They have a centering point and two cutting edges for boring holes in hard and soft wood. Also known as spade bits.

Carbide-Tipped Drill Bits for Hardened Steel

The straight flutes and notched point withstand the heavy pressure necessary to penetrate hard steel. These carbide-tipped bits maintain their sharp edges when drilling abrasive material. Because they aren’t as brittle as solid carbide bits, they can be used in less rigid setups, such as a hand-held drill. They are jobbers' length and have the rigidity and length required for most hand-held drilling and machine tool applications.

Drill Bits for Aluminum, Brass, and Bronze

Because softer metal, like aluminum, brass, and bronze, can clog a bit, the flutes on these bits lift chips out of the hole. Also known as slow-spiral drill bits. They are jobbers' length and have the rigidity and length required for most applications.

Hex Shank Combination Drill Bits/Taps for Drills and Screwdrivers

With a drill bit point to drive into the workpiece, these taps can drill and tap holes in a single step. A 1/4" hex shank connects them directly to tools such as drills and power screwdrivers. They're made of high-speed steel and are for use on most metal and plastic.
Their spiral flutes keep chips clear by drawing them back toward the tap and out of the hole. All have a plug chamfer with 3-5 chamfered cutting threads, so they're suitable for start-to-finish tapping.
Uncoated taps are strong enough for most tapping jobs but have the shortest tool life. Titanium Nitride (TiN) coated taps resist heat and wear better than uncoated taps, letting them last up to twice as long.

Hardened Undersized High-Speed M2 Tool Steel Rods

- Yield Strength: Not Rated
- Hardness: Rockwell C60 (Very Hard)
These rods, also known as drill blanks, have an undersized diameter for machining your own jobbers'-length drill bits. They're hardened for increased abrasion and impact resistance. M2 tool steel offers a nice balance of wear resistance and machinability. It has a high molybdenum content, which allows it to maintain sharp cutting edges even at elevated temperatures.

Hardened Oversized High-Speed M2 Tool Steel Rods

- Yield Strength: Not Rated
- Hardness: Rockwell C60 (Very Hard)
Also known as reamer blanks, these rods have an oversized diameter that allows for finishing to your exact requirements. They're hardened for increased abrasion and impact resistance. M2 tool steel offers a nice balance of wear resistance and machinability. It has a high molybdenum content, which allows it to maintain sharp cutting edges even at elevated temperatures.
