Available file formats for technical drawings and 3-D models

We provide CAD file formats that popular CAD design software programs can open. 3-D models are native to Solidworks. Not all formats are available for all products. The PDF file format offers easy viewing and printing and is available for all products with CAD files.

Troubleshoot CAD-related problems

CAD files are in metric instead of British/Imperial scale

Some of our models appear to be the wrong size because they are scaled in metric units rather than inches. This can be resolved in two ways:

    1. Import these images using metric units (mm).
    2. Enlarge the model by a factor of 25.4.

Downloading a file generates an error message or blank screen

The CAD program may be trying to automatically open the file instead of allowing it to download to your computer. You will need to change the file association settings on your computer. Removing these associations does not impair your ability to open these types of files with your CAD programs.

    1. Double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop.
    2. Click Tools in the top toolbar.
    3. Click the Folder Options choice in the drop-down menu.
