Corrosion-Resistant-Coated Steel—Corrosion-resistant-coated hangers are 40 times as corrosion resistant as zinc-yellow-chromate-plated hangers, withstanding up to 1,000 hours of salt spray. They can drill into structural steel up to 1/4", such as steel beams. They’re not for use with sheet metal thinner than 12 ga.
Zinc-Yellow-Chromate-Plated Steel—Zinc-yellow-chromate-plated hangers are corrosion resistant in wet environments.
7/16" Wide Head—Some hangers with a 7/16" head width can drill through steel as thick as 12 ga.; others can drill through sheet metal and wood.
