Shunt—Receptacles with a shunt divert current from one device to another when a connection is made. In a stereo, the speakers are the default connection to the sound system. When a pair of headphones is plugged into the stereo’s receptacle, the shunt diverts current, and the audio, to the headphones.

Connect microphones to mixers, amplifiers, and audio interfaces without the need for a cable. These inline adapters convert between common connector types. XLR-to-XLR adapters maintain a balanced signal path and locking connections on both ends. XLR-to-1/4" adapters are often used with unbalanced equipment, but the 1/4" end doesn't have a locking fit.

    Dual Sound Output

Make hands-free calls from your computer, laptop, smartphone, or other device. The headphones and microphone cancel background noise, so you and the person on the other line hear each other clearly without distractions. Bend the microphone’s arm closer to or away from your mouth to improve the clarity of your voice. These headsets have a call controller on their cord with buttons to quickly answer and end calls, adjust the volume, and mute yourself.
Single Sound Output—Headsets with single sound output cover just one ear, so you can hear people in the room on your end. They’re useful for relaying messages and instructions.
