Our basic drill bits are also the most versatile. Cut holes in a variety of metals, from the softest aluminum to the hardest steel.
Jobbers' Length—These bits have the balance of rigidity and length needed for most applications.
Extended Length—Drill through panels and thick workpieces with our longest bits. Their length is good for creating deep holes but makes them less rigid than other bits. As a result, they are more prone to wobbling or breaking, especially when drilling hard materials.
Black Oxide—The dark finish increases wear resistance and reduces friction to improve chip flow, so these bits can last 50% longer than uncoated bits.
Titanium Nitride (TiN) Coated—Drill at higher speeds and last longer than uncoated and oxide-coated bits, especially on tough materials like hardened steel and nickel.
Uncoated—The most economical option, uncoated bits perform best when used on low-carbon steel and aluminum. Polished to reduce friction, they're also known as bright finish bits.

Carbide-Tipped Drill Bits for Masonry and Concrete

Crush rather than cut material so bits don’t jam or overheat while drilling masonry and concrete. The ultra-hard carbide tip breaks masonry into pieces and the widely spaced flutes channel them out of the hole. These bits stay sharp, resisting wear and heat that will dull or break other bits.

Tough and wear resistant, cobalt steel bits last at least twice as long as high-speed steel. They can also run up to 25% faster at higher temperatures without being damaged on hard materials, such as nickel.
Uncoated—Polished to eject chips, these are also known as bright finish bits.

Performance similar to solid carbide but at a lower price point. Like carbide bits, these are stronger than cobalt and high-speed steel and maintain their sharp edges when drilling abrasive material. However, when drilling tough metals like iron and hardened steel, upgrade to carbide for longer life.
Extended Length—Drill through panels and thick workpieces with our longest bits. Their length is good for creating deep holes but makes them less rigid than other bits. As a result, they are more prone to wobbling or breaking, especially when drilling hard materials.

    Shown with Carbide Inserts

    (Sold Separately)

When you need to drill dozens or even hundreds of holes, use a bit with replaceable carbide inserts. Once the cutting edges wear down, just change the inserts instead of sharpening or throwing the bit away. The holes in the bit channel coolant through the tool for more efficient chip evacuation. Also known as indexable drill bits.
Each drill bit requires two inserts—one on the inner cutting edge and one on the outer cutting edge. Replacement inserts are sold separately.

    4 Flutes

When one end wears out, switch to the opposite end for two times the life of a standard cobalt steel end mill. With better heat and wear resistance than high-speed steel, these cobalt steel end mills can run at higher speeds and provide better performance on hard material, such as iron, hardened steel, titanium, and tool steel. Their ball ends make them good for milling rounded slots, slopes, and contours. All are center cutting, allowing plunge cuts into a surface.
4 Flutes—End mills with four flutes provide a finer finish and operate with less vibration when run at high speeds.

High-Speed Steel Square End Mills with Two Milling Ends

Image of Product. Front orientation. End Mills. High-Speed Steel Square End Mills with Two Milling Ends, 4 Flutes.

    4 Flutes

When one end wears out, switch to the opposite end for two times the life of a standard high-speed steel end mill. Made of high-speed steel, these end mills are for general purpose milling in most material, such as aluminum, brass, bronze, iron, and steel. Their square ends make them good for milling square slots, pockets, and edges. All are center cutting, allowing plunge cuts into a surface.
End mills with fewer flutes provide better chip clearance for high-volume, high-speed plunge, slotting, and roughing cuts; end mills with more flutes provide a finer finish and operate with less vibration when run at high speeds.
Uncoated High-Speed Steel—Use uncoated end mills for general purpose milling and short production runs.
Titanium Nitride (TiN)-Coated High-Speed Steel—Use titanium nitride (TiN)-coated end mills for demanding, high-speed jobs in hard material as well as for longer production runs. They’re more wear resistant than uncoated end mills, which means they last longer when run at similar speeds.
