    Double-Cut Face—Surface has two sets of diagonal teeth and is often used with heavier pressure than single cut for rapid material removal.
    Single-Cut Face—Surface has one set of diagonal teeth and is often used with light pressure to slowly remove material and sharpen tool-cutting surfaces.
    Single-Cut Face with Chip Breaker—Speed up reaching a fine finish. They remove material as quickly as double-cut files while leaving behind a smooth finish at the same time. They have single-cut teeth divided by diagonal cutting edges that act as chip breakers—the chip breakers rough the surface while the single-cut teeth smooth it.
    Swiss—Swiss-pattern files create more consistent finishes than American-pattern files. They have a round or tear drop shape.
    Rubber Handle—Files with rubber handles have a cushioned, comfortable grip.
    Wood Handle—Files with wood handles have a durable grip that's shaped to fit comfortably in your hand.
    Black Oxide—Files with a black-oxide finish resist rust and clogging.
    Length—For files without handles, length does not include the tang.

    Clog-Resistant Polishing Stone Assortments for Steel

    Polish steel from start to finish with stones in different grits. The stones in these assortments are filled with oil to keep debris from getting stuck in the pores, so you don’t have to stop and clean the surface. Made of aluminum oxide, these stones also abrade slowly to give you more control over how much material you remove. Use a holder to polish by hand or with a power tool (both sold separately). Apply an additional water-soluble or oil-based lubricant to reduce friction and heat, and to wash away debris.
