A washer with sharp external teeth grips your material to resist frequent vibration better than internal-tooth lock washers. However, the teeth can mar surfaces and snag nearby objects. Also known as Sems screws, the washer on these rotates freely but is permanently attached. The head gives you six, flat contact points, so wrenches and sockets won't slip and round off the drive.
