    Knurls

    Get a grip—pair these knurls with a knurling tool to form patterns on your workpiece to make it easy to twist, grip, and pull. Also known as full face or standard knurls, they have a consistent pattern with sharp unbeveled edges suitable for most uses. All knurls have a ground finish to make precise, clean marks. To form a diamond pattern—common for tool handles, knobs, and fasteners—machine your material with both a right- and left-hand spiral.
    M1 High-Speed Tool Steel—M1 high-speed tool steel knurls work well on most materials.
    Teeth per Inch—Teeth per inch (TPI) determines how fine your pattern is. The higher the number, the smoother, more closely spaced your pattern will be. A tool handle is usually knurled with 30 TPI. A precision instrument knob would require an 80 TPI.

    Swivel Bump

    Press a grip into your workpiece using your manual lathe. These tools use knurls with smooth, rounded teeth to form grooves on your material. Upon contact with your material, the tool head adjusts to center the knurls for a consistent pattern. Use left and right-hand spiral knurls together to create a diamond pattern—common for tool handles—in one go. When your knurls wear out, you can pop them out and replace them. You can also swap the included spiral knurls for straight ones.
    Swivel Bump—Swivel bump knurling tools have three sets of knurls that you can rotate between: coarse, medium, and fine pitch.

    Cut down on setup time for heavy duty knurling with this system of tools and holders. Each holder accepts multiple tools, so you can install the holder on your lathe once, then swap out the tool to switch tasks. Knurls are included with each tool. They’re made of heat-treated, high-speed tool steel for strength and shock resistance. A titanium nitride coating prevents wear.
