Pull-Release Hand-Held Lifting Magnets

Magnetic Air-Powered Pick-and-Place Grippers

Lift and move perforated metal sheets and other parts that standard grippers and vacuum lifters can’t hold. Compressed air pushes a magnet forward to grab parts, then retracts it to release them. A replaceable pad absorbs impact as the magnet grabs parts to protect the parts and gripper from damage.

Holding force describes how strongly the magnet can pull on your part to keep it attached to the gripper during handling. The amount of force you need depends on the part’s magnetism, thickness, flatness, and finish. For example, to lift a 2 mm thick carbon steel plate with a smooth surface, you’d need a force that’s at least three times its weight. Thin or curved parts require a higher holding force. Grippers with adjustable force control help prevent damage and accidental pickups. Turn the bolt at the top of these grippers to adjust the distance between the magnet and your part. Move the magnet away to reduce the magnetic force for delicate and lightweight parts or move it closer to increase the force for heavy parts.
