    Tight-Tolerance Extra-High-Strength 7075 Aluminum Rods

Image of Product. Front orientation. Aluminum. Tight-Tolerance Extra-High-Strength 7075 Aluminum Rods.
When precision and yield strength are nonnegotiable, choose these 7075 aluminum rods. They’re ground to paper-thin tolerances for parts that require pinpoint precision. Held to a strict straightness tolerance, they’re all set to turn in your lathe.
7075 is one the strongest aluminum alloys, boasting a yield strength that rivals carbon steel rebar. Originally made for aircraft frames, it’s now turned into gears, machine keys, and other high-stress parts. It’s a good substitute for 2024 aluminum when forming and welding aren’t top concerns.

    Chemical-Resistant Ultra-Low-Friction PTFE Rods

These rods and discs are made of PTFE, a material that surpasses most plastic when it comes to chemical resistance and performance in extreme temperatures. In addition to resisting most solvents, they are an excellent electrical insulator. They are easy to machine and have a naturally slippery surface that makes them a good choice for bearings, gears, and parts that slide and roll.

    Dowel Pins

Image of Product. Front orientation. Dowel Pins. Standard Tolerance, Plain Head.
Precisely align machine parts and prevent movement during assembly. These dowel pins are machined to tight tolerances and have a uniform diameter for a snug fit. They can also be used as a pivot, shaft, or hinge to join moving components. Since dowel pins can be hard to remove, they are best suited for permanent fixtures that don't require frequent adjustments or disassembly.
    Steel
High-Strength Alloy Steel—Our strongest, most wear-resistant pins, these won't bend or break from vibration. Use them for high-stress applications, such as mounting and aligning hydraulic cylinders and injection molds. They perform best in dry environments since moisture will cause them to rust.

Drill, mill, and turn at high speeds without clogging your cutting tools. Alloyed with sulfur, 416 is the easiest type of stainless steel to machine. Its surface doesn’t harden, even after multiple passes. A good choice for gears, screws, and shafts, it won't wear down when it grinds against other metal parts. It also maintains its corrosion resistance in temperatures as hot as 1200° F. However, it's not as corrosion resistant as other types of stainless steel, such as 304 and 17-4 PH.

    Made-to-Order Highly Corrosion-Resistant 316 Stainless Steel Rods

Image of Product. Front orientation. Stainless Steel. Made-to-Order Highly Corrosion-Resistant 316 Stainless Steel Rods.
When an off-the-shelf size won't do, we'll get you the exact dimensions you need.
One of the most corrosion-resistant types of stainless steel, 316 stands up to the harshest chemicals, including bleach, chlorine, and phosphoric acid. It's a step up from 304, which has similar strength and temperature performance. Use it in a variety of marine and chemical-processing applications. It maintains its corrosion resistance in temperatures up to 1500° F.
316/316L Stainless Steel—Dual certified to meet both 316 and 316L requirements. The low carbon content makes this stainless steel easy to weld while maintaining strength and corrosion resistance.

Highly Weldable Wear-Resistant 8620 Alloy Steel Rods

Image of Product. Front orientation. Steel. Highly Weldable Wear-Resistant 8620 Alloy Steel Rods.
Made of 8620 alloy steel, these rods have low levels of carbon that make them easy to weld. Nickel, chromium, and molybdenum give them wear resistance. For even greater wear resistance, harden their surface with heat treating. These rods are often used to make high-strength gears, bushings, and shafts.

    Ultra-Wear-Resistant 440C Stainless Steel Rods

The high carbon content in this 440C stainless steel helps it withstand abrasion and wear better than any other stainless steel. Like tool steel, it can be heat treated to become extremely hard. It also maintains its corrosion resistance in temperatures up to 800° F. However, it’s more likely to break than bend from impacts. It’s often used to make bearings and valves.
