Keep bits in several sizes and grits on hand to sand grooves, slots, and other hard-to-reach spots. When the abrasive dulls, slide a new cap onto the shank rather than replacing the whole bit. These bits are coated with aluminum oxide, which is the most common choice for general purpose sanding. They’re often used to finish metal or wood workpieces.
