DC Magnetic-Object Proximity Switches

These switches detect magnetic objects—or objects with a magnet attached—through non-magnetic walls. They’re often used to count magnetic items on a conveyor belt that are too far for other proximity switches to detect and in food plants to track cleaners through stainless steel pipe. Producing a PNP signal output, these switches are commonly used with programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Resistant to dust, heat, and vibration, switches will stand up to harsh environments. Magnets are sold separately.
Maximum sensing distance in the table below represents switches used with the magnet shown. Sensing distance will vary depending on the magnetic strength of the object your switch is detecting.

Circuit Board DC Magnetic-Object Proximity Switches
Send signals in response to changing magnetic fields to trigger processes or monitor position, speed, and current. These switches communicate with devices such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and microcontrollers. They’re also known as hall effect sensors. To install, push their contacts through holes in a circuit board, then solder them in place.
Maintained switches change their output signal based on the polarity of a magnetic field. They’re often used to monitor movement, such as tracking the speed and position of a shaft. These switches output a high-voltage signal when they detect a north pole, and a low-voltage signal for a south pole. When the magnetic field is removed, they maintain the same output signal.
Momentary switches change their output signal based on whether a magnetic field is present. They’re often used to trigger a process in response to changing magnetic fields, such as turning on a light when a door opens. When they detect a north or south pole, they output a low-voltage signal. When they don’t detect a magnetic field at all, they output a high-voltage signal.

Magnetic Position-Measuring Transmitters

Nano
M8 Plug
Micro
M12 Plug
Continuously monitor your air cylinder rod’s position and turn the cylinder on and off with a single component. These transmitters send positioning data to computers, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and human-machine interfaces (HMIs). They're often integrated into automated systems for tasks such as timing when certain steps of your process should take place and verifying dimensions for quality control. Rated IP67, these transmitters withstand temporary submersion.
Press the buttons on the switch to toggle between voltage and current outputs. These transmitters have a plug that connects to cables with a socket (not included) so you can quickly connect and disconnect the switch.
