Extreme-Strength Steel Thin Heavy Hex Nuts—Grade 2H

Also known as heavy jam nuts, these are about half the height and 10% wider than standard hex nuts. Use them in low-clearance applications or jam one against another heavy hex nut to hold it in place. They're often used in conjunction with a heavy hex nut to fasten Grade 9 bolts in heavy machinery, such as earth-moving equipment.
Zinc-plated steel nuts resist corrosion in wet environments.

Low-Strength Steel Thin Heavy Hex Nuts

Also known as heavy jam nuts, these are about half the height and 10% wider than standard hex nuts. Use them in low-clearance applications or jam against another heavy hex nut to hold it in place. Made from low-strength steel, use them in light duty fastening applications, such as securing access panels.
Black-oxide steel nuts have a dark surface color and are mildly corrosion resistant in dry environments.

High-Strength Steel Thin Heavy Nylon-Insert Locknuts

About half the height and 10% wider than standard nylon-insert locknuts, these locknuts are often referred to as thin heavy locknuts. Use them in low-clearance applications or jam one against a heavy hex nut to hold it in place. The nylon insert grips the bolt to resist loosening without damaging threads. They're reusable, but their holding power lessens with each use. Comparable in strength to Grade 8 bolts, these locknuts are about three times stronger than the same locknut made with low-strength steel.
Steel locknuts without a finish are ready to be welded, painted, and finished.
Black-phosphate steel locknuts resist corrosion in wet environments.

Low-Strength Steel Thin Heavy Nylon-Insert Locknuts

Since they’re about half the height and 10% wider than standard nylon-insert locknuts, these locknuts are considered thin heavy locknuts. Use them in light duty low-clearance applications or jam one against a heavy hex nut to hold it in place. The nylon insert grips the bolt to resist loosening without damaging threads. They're reusable, but their holding power lessens with each use.
Zinc-plated steel locknuts provide mild corrosion resistance in wet environments.
Black corrosion-resistant-coated steel locknuts are more corrosion resistant than zinc-plated locknuts in wet environments. They’re also known as black luster locknuts.

Steel Thin Heavy Nylon-Insert Locknuts

These locknuts have excellent resistance to chemicals and salt water. They’re known as thin heavy locknuts because they’re about half the height and 10% wider than standard nylon-insert locknuts. Use them in low-clearance applications or jam one against a heavy hex nut to hold it in place. The nylon insert grips the bolt to resist loosening without damaging threads. They're reusable, but their holding power lessens with each use. They may be mildly magnetic.

Thin Heavy Flex-Top Locknuts for Heavy Vibration

About half the height and 10% wider than standard flex-top locknuts, these locknuts are often referred to as thin heavy locknuts. Use them in low-clearance applications or jam one against a heavy hex nut to hold it in place. Threads at the top of the nut expand to grip the bolt on all sides for a stronger hold than distorted-thread locknuts. The strength of the bolt should match the strength of the nut to prevent damaging threads. These locknuts have equivalent strength to Grade 8 steel locknuts. A cadmium plating provides corrosion resistance in wet environments and adds lubricity so they thread on smoothly.
