Nylon-Insert Wing Nuts

The strongest hold of all our thumb nuts. The wings give you extra leverage for a tight fit, while a nylon insert grips the screw to prevent loosening from vibration. However, the insert may become brittle if exposed to high temperatures. You can reuse these nuts a handful of times, but their holding power will decrease with each use.

Zinc

Zinc—Zinc nuts have better corrosion resistance than steel to withstand occasional exposure to moisture. However, they're not as strong.
