Silicone Sealants

Made from silicone, these sealants are RTV (room-temperature vulcanizing). They’re non-sagging, so they won't drip from vertical and overhead surfaces.
Elongation and joint compression/expansion tolerance indicate flexibility—the higher the values are, the more joint movement sealants can sustain. Sealants that are good for joining dissimilar materials also work well in environments with wide temperature fluctuation.

Low-Outgassing Silicone Sealants

Tested to meet ASTM E595, a standard used by NASA, these sealants fill joints and seams while releasing almost no volatile emissions that could damage sensitive electronics, even in a vacuum. Made of silicone, they’re RTV (room-temperature vulcanizing), so they’ll fully harden at room temperature.
Elongation indicates flexibility—the higher the value is, the more a sealant can stretch.
Sealants that begin to harden in 26 min. are less likely to trap contaminants than those that take longer to harden.

Ready-to-Use Silicone Potting Compounds

No mixing required—these potting compounds come ready to apply. Use them to encase electronic assemblies for protection from dust, moisture, mechanical shock, and vibration. Softer and more flexible than epoxies and urethanes with the widest temperature range, silicone potting compounds are the best choice for high-temperature applications and electronics exposed to thermal cycling. They have good moisture resistance but poor chemical and abrasion resistance. Silicones provide excellent electrical insulation. They're also known as RTV (room-temperature vulcanizing) compounds because they don’t need heat or UV light to cure.
Potting compounds that cannot be sold to California exceed local regulatory limits on VOCs (volatile organic compounds). Potting compounds that cannot be sold to Canada are restricted by product labeling requirements.

Food Industry Seal and O-Ring Grease

This grease meets NSF/ANSI Standard 51 and FDA 21 CFR 175.300 for direct contact with food and NSF/ANSI Standard 61 for use with components that come into contact with drinking water. Formulated with silica thickener and silicone, it resists washing away and has excellent resistance to wear. Apply directly to seals and O-rings to prevent drying and cracking.
NLGI viscosity grade is a rating of a grease's consistency. NLGI 3.5 is between the consistencies of vegetable shortening and frozen yogurt.
Grease lubricates most efficiently within the listed temperature range.

Food Industry Electrical-Insulating Grease

Use this grease in areas where there is the possibility of contact with food. Also known as dielectric grease, it lubricates and protects electrical systems. It resists water and corrosion. This grease can be used on most rubber and plastic.
NLGI viscosity grade is a rating of a grease's consistency. NLGI 1 is about the consistency of tomato paste. NLGI 2 is about the consistency of peanut butter.
Dielectric strength measures the maximum voltage a grease can withstand without losing its insulating properties. The higher the dielectric strength, the better its quality as an insulator.
Grease that is NSF Registered H1 and grease that meets FDA Compliant 21 CFR 178.3570 are rated for incidental contact with food. Grease lubricates most efficiently below the maximum temperature. Nonmelting grease can be used at temperatures above the maximum temperature briefly, but then will break down more quickly.
