These locknuts are about 10% wider than standard flex-top locknuts to distribute the load over a large area. Threads at the top of the nut expand to grip the bolt on all sides for a stronger hold than distorted-thread locknuts. The strength of the bolt should match the strength of the nut to prevent damaging threads. These locknuts have equivalent strength to Grade 8 steel locknuts. A cadmium plating provides corrosion resistance in wet environments and adds lubricity so they thread on smoothly.
