Sanding Sponge Assortments
Keep a selection of flat and angled sponges with various grits on hand. These sponges give you the comfort and control of a sanding block, but they're flexible enough to sand around curves. The angled edge squeezes into corners that a flat sponge might miss. They're coated with aluminum oxide, which is the most common abrasive. It's often used for material removal and finishing on metal and wood. Each sponge has two sides with a coarser grit and two sides with a finer grit.

Clog-Resistant Sanding Sponges
These sponges prevent debris from accumulating on the abrasive surface and keep operating temperatures low. Flexible enough to sand around curves and in corners, these sponges provide the comfort and control of a sanding block.
Sponges with Stearate Coating—A dry powder lubricant applied to the surface reduces friction and heat buildup, which reduces wear on the abrasive.
Sponges with Channels—Raised, brick-shaped layers of abrasive material let you achieve highly consistent finishes. Widely spaced channels in between the bricks prevent clogging by collecting and redirecting debris away from the abrasive surface. This makes these sponges good for coarse sanding applications, but they are not as good for fine finishing as sponges with stearate coating. Style B have larger layers of abrasive material than Style C to abrade surfaces more quickly, but they have fewer channels and handle a moderate amount of dust. Style C sponges have more cleaning channels than Style B, making them good for sanding surfaces that generate a large amount of dust.
36 and 60 Grit—Use for paint stripping.
80 and 120 Grit—Use for bare surface sanding.
180 and 220 Grit—Use for sanding between coats of paint.

Sheet Sanding Block Assortments
Keep a variety of sanding blocks on hand to smooth workpieces of all shapes and sizes. The blocks in these assortments are more comfortable to hold than a sheet alone and give you greater control while you sand. Larger blocks are good for finishing wide surfaces; smaller blocks squeeze into tight spaces. All are bright yellow, so they’re easy to spot in dusty shops. Pair them with adhesive-back or hook-and-loop sanding sheets and rolls (sold separately).
