Audio Equipment Connectors
Receptacles with an off (Normally Open) circuit position turn equipment on when a device is plugged in.
Receptacles with an on (Normally Closed) circuit position turn equipment off when a device is plugged in.
Receptacles with a shunt divert current from one device to another when a connection is made. In a stereo, the speakers are the default connection to the sound system. When a pair of headphones is plugged into the stereo’s receptacle, the shunt diverts current, and the audio, to the headphones.

USB Adapters
Transmit data between computers and other devices that have different USB sizes or styles. All USB adapters are backward compatible, so they work with cords and connectors that meet the same or a lower USB standard.

Barrel-Style DC Connectors
Made with industry standard barrel-style ends, these connectors carry DC power between electronic devices and power supplies.
Housing Connection—Pair connectors that have the same type of housing connection. Push-in connectors are quick to connect and disconnect. Screw-together connectors take longer to connect, but are more secure. They’re good for preventing power loss if vibration might loosen the connection or the connector could get yanked out.
Wire Connection—Choose based on your application. Solder connections are the most secure and permanent connection.
IP-Rated Connectors—Create a sealed connection when the plug and socket, receptacle, or adapter are also IP rated. All are dust tight, even when there’s continuous airflow. IP68-rated connectors have been tested by the manufacturer to withstand immersion in water for more than 30 minutes.
Receptacles—Mount them in a panel. Receptacles with an off (Normally Open) circuit position turn equipment on when you plug in a device.
