No-Irritation Ceramic High-Temperature Sleeving

Unlike fiberglass and silica, this sleeving won't irritate skin, so it’s easier to handle. It withstands open flame and molten metal splash, making it a good choice for welding applications. The ceramic fabric also resists acids, alkalies, alcohol, solvents, oil, and gasoline. Because this sleeving is non-expandable, it does not stretch, so it’s best for applications where you know the exact diameter of the items you need to protect. It meets MIL-I-24244 for material quality.

High-Temperature Ceramic Fiber Pipe Insulation
Shield against extreme heat with these flexible ceramic strips. They are often used to insulate hose, cables, and process piping.
Alumina oxide ceramic fiber has the lowest heat-flow rate of all the ceramic fiber materials.
Alkaline earth silicate ceramic fiber, also called AES, has a foil facing to reflect radiant heat.
Insulation with adhesive backing allows you to install without having to hold in place. Secure with band clamps or other parts of the assembly once in position. Apply while cool. Adhesive will start to wear off around 400° F, but this does not affect the insulation’s temperature rating.

Rigid Silica Ultra-Insulation Sheets for Furnaces

- Max. Temperature: 1740° F
- Heat Flow Rate: 0.31 Btu @ 1470° F
- Density: 16 lbs./cu. ft.
- Color: See Table
Typically used in ovens and furnaces, these are the most efficient of our rigid high-temperature insulation sheets. Please note that they require special care when installing since the crumbly material is difficult to work with and will crack easily. Sheets lose strength over time and are intended to be installed behind another facing or insulation material. They resist damage from fire and moisture. Insulation performs best at temperatures above 1000° F.
Ceramic Fiber Insulation Sheets for Furnaces

- Temperature Range: See table
- Heat Flow Rate: See table
- Density: See table
- Color: White
- Specifications Met: See table
The most common of our flexible high-temperature sheets, these are used to insulate furnaces. They also can be fabricated into gaskets. Insulation performs best at temperatures above 1000° F.
Sheets without binder don’t have a binder that can burn when installed, so they won’t produce a strong odor. They’re often used to vacuum heat treat furnaces. However, they’re weaker and more brittle than sheets with a binder.
Sheets with binder are stronger in structure, easier to cut, and more pliable than those without a binder. The binder will burn out at 350° and release gas with a strong odor, so only use them in applications where burnout is not an issue.

Ultra-Thin Rigid Millboard Insulation Sheets for Furnaces

Thinner than most rigid insulation for furnaces and other high-heat applications, these millboard sheets are also used for gasket fabrication. Insulation performs best at temperatures above 1000° F.
Moldable Ceramic Insulation Sheets for Furnaces

- Temperature Range: -120° F to 2730° F
- Heat Flow Rate: 1.2 Btu @ 1200° F
- Density: 75 lbs./cu. ft.
- Color: White
Wet these rigid sheets and they become formable. They can be molded multiple times until exposed to heat, which causes them to become rigid again. Insulation performs best at temperatures above 1000° F.
Thermal-Shock-Resistant Ceramic Fiber Insulation Sheets for Furnaces

- Temperature Range: 0° to 2300° F
- Heat Flow Rate: 0.85 Btu @ 1000° F
- Density: 18 lbs./cu. ft.
- Color: Off-White
- Specifications Met: ASTM E84 0/0 for Flame and Smoke
Designed for fluctuating, high-temperature applications, these semi-rigid sheets are typically used in furnaces and fire protection applications. They experience very little shrinkage at high temperatures, but the brittle material can be somewhat difficult to work with. Insulation is flame resistant, meeting ASTM E84 0/0 for flame and smoke. It performs best at temperatures above 1000° F.
Sheet with binder is easier to handle at room temperature than sheet without a binder, but it contains a small amount of organic material that burns off and releases smoke at around 400° F.
Sheet without binder won't produce smoke when heated.
Thermocouple Insulating Sleeves

Protect thermocouple wire exposed to air in forging, die casting, heat treating, and other extreme-temperature applications. Use multiple sleeves to insulate longer wire. No sealant or epoxy is needed for joining them.
