    Remote-Reading Airflow/Temperature Meters

    Easy-Read Flowmeters for Gases

    Instead of a scale, these flowmeters have a large dial that makes it easy to read the flow rate of your gas from a distance. As gas flows through, it pushes a needle along the dial, showing you the flow rate.
    These flowmeters are calibrated with air but can be used with other gases. If you’re using these with a gas other than air, you’ll need to calculate the flow rate by multiplying the number shown on the scale by the specific-gravity conversion factor for your gas.

    Flowmeters with a bronze body should be installed away from other fittings to get the most accurate reading. To determine how far away from the fittings it should be, take your pipe's diameter and multiply it by 10. Choose a direction of flow that matches your pipe system, so you don't have to tilt your head to read the dial.

    Panel-Mount Flowmeters for Gases

    Monitor the flow rate of air and other gases from your instrument panel—these flowmeters have fittings on the back for panel mounting. They should be mounted vertically inline with your piping system, so gas flows up from the bottom. As gas passes through, it pushes an indicator up the scale, showing you the flow rate. With an acrylic body, they're completely clear, so you can inspect your gas’s color and clarity for any problems.

    Measure the flow rate of gases in applications where pressure fluctuates, such as compressed air systems. These flowmeters have a scale with multiple pressures, so can see your flow rate without having to convert to your system's pressure. As air flows through the meter, it pushes the indicator on the scale. The scale rotates 360°, so you can check the flow rate from any angle. Install these flowmeters directly inline with your pipeline using the fittings on each end. They measure flow rate correctly no matter the mounting orientation.
    These flowmeters are calibrated with air but can be used with other gases. If you’re using these with a gas other than air, you’ll need to calculate the flow rate by multiplying the number shown on the scale by the specific-gravity conversion factor for your gas.
    Pressure Gauge—Flowmeters with a pressure gauge directly measure pressure as gas flows through the meter, letting you confirm the current pressure with the flow rate on the scale.

    Choose a fitting material that is compatible with the gas you're running through your line.
    PVC Fitting—PVC fittings work with a wide range of chemicals. However, they can crack from impact or when overtightened.
    Brass Fitting—Brass fittings resist impact better than PVC fittings.
    316 Stainless Steel Fitting—316 stainless steel fittings resist impact better than PVC fittings.
