A plastic sleeve prevents destructive corrosion when connecting different metals. Pipe is also known as Schedule 40 and is designed for low-pressure applications. It is galvanized steel, which has fair corrosion resistance. Pipe is welded, so there is a weld bead on the inside. Not for use in heating systems that use hot liquids or gas.
