Contact Blocks for Manual Switches

Make or break an electrical circuit. These contact blocks mount to manual switches and transmit an electrical signal when the switch actuator is engaged. You can stack multiple blocks, so a single switch can control several circuits. This is helpful in setups that require multiple systems to turn on or off at the same time. For example, the switch on a conveyor line could turn off the conveyor and turn on a diverter and alarm.
Quick-make blocks close the contacts milliseconds before the push-button or lever is fully actuated, so they’re often installed in safety systems. For example, you can connect one quick-make block and one standard block to a switch that controls two circuits—this ensures one contact turns on or off before the other.

Enclosure Door Switches

Activate or deactivate fans, lights, and other devices inside your enclosure when you open or close the door. To actuate these switches, push the plunger. They work with most enclosures, since you can slide the housing up to 1 3/8” to make the switch longer or shorter. Mount screws anywhere along the mounting slots to install.
Normally closed switches set off an alarm, light, or other device when you open the door.

Snap-Acting Switches

Open and close circuits in a snap. These switches actuate quickly to minimize arcing and prevent contacts from sticking. They’re often used to indicate that an appliance or enclosure door is open. You can also use them inside limit, pressure, and temperature switches.
Switches with a plunger actuator require a push to actuate, similar to a button.
Switches with a lever actuator have an arm that extends to give them a larger actuation area than switches with a plunger actuator.
Switches with a roller lever actuator combine the larger actuation area of a standard lever with a smooth gliding roller actuator. They minimize friction to limit wear and tear on your switch.
Switches with a wobble stick actuator have a flexible arm that can actuate from any direction.
Plastic covers (sold separately) are compatible with switches with screw terminals. They fit over the bottom of the switch to prevent contact with live terminals.

Subminiature Snap-Acting Switches

At least 25% smaller than our Miniature Snap-Acting Switches, these switches are often used to trigger actions from inside a vehicle’s door or an engine compartment. They open and close circuits faster than other switches, preventing contacts from sticking by reducing the time that they're near one another. They also minimize the chance of arcing, so electricity won’t jump across contacts.
Plunger actuator switches send a signal when the actuator is pushed directly downward. They have the smallest actuator of the actuators here, reducing the risk of accidental switching.
Lever actuator switches have a larger surface area than plunger actuator switches and can be pushed down by front-to-back movement, so they require less precision to activate.
Roller lever actuator switches allow parts to glide across the actuation surface with less friction than standard levers. This prevents wear and tear over time.

Light-Touch Miniature Snap-Acting Switches

Smaller and more sensitive than standard snap-acting switches, these switches fit in tight spaces and actuate from light pressure. Snap-acting switches quickly open or close circuits to reduce arcing and keep contacts from sticking.
Switches with a plunger actuator require a push to activate, similar to a button.
Switches with a roller lever actuator use a lever with a roller at the end to activate. This allows parts to glide across the actuation surface with minimal friction, limiting wear and tear.
Switches with a simulated roller lever actuator have a curved arm that can be pressed down for actuation by forward, backward, and repeated back-and-forth movement.
Switches with a paddle lever actuator actuate when material moves over the arm, which has the largest actuation area of our lever snap-acting switches. They’re often used in HVAC applications where airflow interacts with the paddle to actuate the switch.

Frame-Mounted Safety Switches

Also known as interlock switches, these ensure the safety of personnel by automatically shutting off power to machinery when an access door opens. Mount the switch to the door frame and mount a key to the door so that the key is inserted into the switch when the door is closed. When the door opens, the key is removed from the switch and the machine shuts down. They’re often used with machine guards for large robots.
All switches require an actuator key, but not all include one—check whether you need to pick out a separate actuator key. For some switch styles, you can also select the mounting orientation of the key.
Style A-G switches have positive-force, normally closed contacts that will open a circuit when the switch is actuated even if a spring fails or the contacts stick.
IP67 rated switches protect against temporary submersion.

Infrequent-Cycle Relays

For use with equipment that cycles on and off, these relays meet UL 508 for air conditioning and heating. Connections are accessible from the front, so you can mount relays side-by-side. Also known as definite-purpose contactors.
Also Available: Auxiliary contacts for 3.8"-7.2" Ht. relays. They allow you to add a signaling device or control another relay. Please select 6564K99, then select the McMaster-Carr part number of your relay and whether you want to switch one circuit on (1 Normally Open) or off (1 Normally Closed).
