Short-Length Drill Bits
Also known as screw-machine and stub-length bits, these provide maximum rigidity for drilling straighter holes than jobbers'- and maintenance-length drill bits.
Black-oxide drill bits produce less friction than uncoated drill bits.

1/2" Diameter Reduced-Shank Drill Bits
The shank has a smaller diameter than the tip, allowing you to drill large holes with machines that have small-capacity chucks. Also known as Silver and Deming bits, they have a 1/2” diameter shank.
Drill bits with flats on shank have three flat sides to prevent the bit from slipping in the drill chuck.

Cobalt Steel 1/2" Diameter Reduced-Shank Drill Bits
With better heat and wear resistance than high-speed steel, these cobalt steel bits can run up to 25% faster and have a longer tool life. The shank has a smaller diameter than the tip, allowing you to drill large holes with machines that have small-capacity chucks. A split point keeps the bit centered without a pilot hole. Also known as Silver and Deming bits, they have a 1/2” diameter shank.
