Fire Alarm-Activated Door Closers

These closers include a door holder, which keeps doors open with an electromagnet. When activated by a fire alarm, the magnet shuts off and releases the door. Hardwire these closers directly into your fire alarm system. Designed for frequently used doors, they last longer than standard door closers. They are for right or left door-swing directions. All meet ANSI/BHMA A156.15 durability, strength, and performance standards for release devices—closer holder, electromagnetic, and electromechanical.

Opens In—For opens-in closers, the door frame cannot project more than _1/8" from the door's face.

Opens Out—For opens-out closers, the frame cannot project more than 3 _1/2" from the door's face.

Automatically close fire doors, windows, lids, dampers, vents, and more in the event of a fire. High temperatures melt the solder bond between links, causing them to separate and release their load. Install with S-hooks or chain (not included).

To ensure safety, replace links annually and do not paint or coat them. Use links in straight-pull applications only.

Styles 1-5—Styles 1-5 links are for use on fire doors, windows, and lids.

Styles 6 and 7—Styles 6 and 7 links are often used on fire doors, windows, hatches, dampers, and blowers.

Style 8—Style 8 links are commonly used on fire doors, smoke and heat vents, and ducts.

Style 9—Style 9 links are good for range hood applications.

Style 10—Style 10 links are designed for use on dampers.

Fire Alarm-Activated Wall-Mount Door Holders

For use with doors that already have a closer, these holders keep doors open with an electromagnet. When activated by a fire alarm, the magnet shuts off and releases the door. Wire these holders directly into your fire alarm system. All are reversible for right or left door-swing directions.

Mount the wall plate in an electrical outlet box or use a surface mounting box (sold separately).

Fusible Link Wire

Often found in older vehicles, this fusible link wire protects a circuit in applications where you can’t use a standard fuse. The conductor in the fusible link melts if there’s a short circuit or voltage spike, breaking the circuit to protect the rest of your wiring. Since the conductor needs to be thin enough to melt before the rest of your wiring overheats, choose a fusible link wire that’s four gauge sizes smaller than your circuit. If you’re replacing a fusible link that has burned out, make sure the new wire is the same length and gauge as the old one.

Cross-Linked Polyethylene Outer Jacket—Made of cross-linked polyethylene, the jacket withstands high temperatures and contains any sparks or flames caused by current overload.
