About Files
Files, also known as American-pattern and machinists' files, are used to remove material quickly.
Precision files, also known as Swiss-pattern files, are made to exacting measurements to ensure smoothness and are useful for finishing delicate and intricate parts.
More
Scratch-Free Rectangular Files

Curved rows of teeth on both faces clear chips and create a scratch-free finish. The edges don’t have teeth, protecting adjacent surfaces when filing. Also known as auto-body and milled-tooth files. They do not include a handle.
Flexible files bend to access hard-to-reach spots. They don’t have a tang and can be used with a two-hand holder (sold separately).
Flexible Rectangular Diamond Files

Flex these files over curves or bend them into slots and grooves. They’re coated with diamond abrasive, which is harder and lasts longer than any other abrasive. Use them to shape and smooth titanium, stone, and other hard materials.

Bend-and-Stay Needle Files

Bend these files to conform to your workpiece and they will hold the shape until you bend them again. They can be bent more than 100 times without breaking. The small tip allows precise work in tight spots. Files have one set of diagonal teeth. They do not include a handle but do have a tang that fits into a handle. Length does not include the tang.
Half-round files can be used on concave, convex, and flat surfaces.
Round files are good for filing holes and concave surfaces.
Triangular files have three filing surfaces to work in spots others can't.
Square files are good for slots, keyways, grooves, and corners.

Flexible Diamond Needle Files

Wire-thin and easy to bend, these files reach tight spots in delicate workpieces, yet they're strong enough to shape hard metal, such as titanium. They're made of diamond—the hardest, longest-lasting abrasive available.

Deburring Pads and Bricks
Debur in a flash—these pads and bricks quickly sand down burs on large flat surfaces and sharp edges. Also known as unitized blocks, they’re made by compressing multiple 3M Scotch-Brite pads together. This means they’re firm enough to nick off burs but cushioned enough to prevent gouges. The nylon mesh breaks down as you debur to expose fresh abrasive for a consistent finish. This material holds its shape, so you can cut these pads to fit specific workpieces. You can also form them into mounted points and bond them to tools. While quicker to use than deburring scrapers, they do not create as precise a cut.
Flexible pads work well on contoured surfaces. Fold them up to squeeze them into tight areas, such as the inside edges of holes.
