    Hazardous Location Adhesive-Mount Heat Sheets

Image of ProductInUse. Front orientation. Heating Pads. Hazardous Location Adhesive-Mount Heat Sheets.
FM approved, these heat sheets are safe for use in areas with infrequent exposure, such as from a spill or a ventilation system failure, to flammable gases, liquids, and dust. They are flexible and permanently adhere to container surfaces to warm contents without direct contact. Heaters require a temperature switch or controller to regulate heat output and should be installed with Dow Corning 736 silicone sealant (both not included).
Note: Do not cut, crease, or overlap these heaters—this will damage the heating element. Use a roller during installation to remove air pockets and ensure direct surface contact. Once heaters have been applied to a surface, they cannot be removed and reused.

2.5 W/in² Watt Density—All have a watt density of 2.5 W/sq. in. for gentle warming.
Hazardous Location Rating—Hazardous location ratings indicate whether manufacturers have included safety features in products to facilitate their safe use in a hazardous environment. Before selecting a product for a hazardous location, ensure it is rated for your environment. See About Hazardous Location Ratings.

Cut-to-Length Constant-Wattage Heating Tape for Pipes and Tubes

Image of ProductInUse. Front orientation. Contains Annotated, MultipleImages. Heating Tape. Cut-to-Length Constant-Wattage Heating Tape for Pipes and Tubes.
With a cable that supplies the same wattage along the entire length, these heaters remain consistent regardless of the surrounding temperature. All require a temperature switch or controller (sold separately) to regulate heat output. They’re often used to maintain liquid temperature and viscosity and provide freeze protection in pipe and tube systems. To prevent burnout, heaters must not be overlapped and must be in full contact with the surface being heated. All have a plastic cable cover for corrosion resistance and durability. They are FM approved for hazardous locations. A power-connection/termination kit (sold separately) is required.
Note: Only install these heaters in accessible locations; do not install them behind walls, underground, or in other difficult-to-access areas. Use fiberglass tape or heat-transfer putty to install them directly on surfaces that are free of dirt, grease, and rough edges. Do not use electrical tape, duct tape, metal bands, or wire. To prevent heat loss and protect heaters from moisture and corrosion, wrap them with fiberglass insulation.

These ETL-listed heaters keep containers warm in areas where hazardous material is present. Also known as heat blankets, they surround drums and totes to heat them up quickly. They’re also insulated with foam or fiberglass to retain heat. They have a built-in thermostat that cycles on and off to keep contents at a set temperature. There's no need to monitor these heaters—since the temperature can’t be changed, there’s no risk of tampering.
Hazardous Location Rating—Hazardous location ratings indicate whether manufacturers have included safety features in products to facilitate their safe use in a hazardous environment. Before selecting a product for a hazardous location, ensure it is rated for your environment.

Also known as self-regulating heat cable, these heaters automatically adjust heat output at different points along their length to account for differences in environmental temperature. They output their full wattage where temperature is low and heat is needed. Where it’s warmer, they output reduced wattage. They’re often used to maintain liquid temperature and viscosity and provide freeze protection in pipe and tube systems. Heaters can be overlapped without creating hot spots or risking burnout. All require a power connection/termination kit (sold separately).

Heaters with a plastic cable cover are rated for use in hazardous locations. They are also more corrosion resistant and durable than heaters without a cable cover.

Safe to use while measuring temperatures near flammable gases or combustible dust, these probes have an explosion-proof head that’s FM approved. They are stainless steel to resist corroding when immersed in liquids and gases. They can also be used with solids, such as molds and dies, because the stainless steel acts as a shield if they’re hit or bumped. Rated NEMA 4, these probes seal out dust and water from washdowns. A layer of magnesium oxide protects the wiring inside. To adjust the length of the probe for your application, slide the fitting up towards the probe head or down towards the tip. Once it’s in the right spot, tighten the fitting to compress it against the probe, securing it in place.
Pick the thermocouple type that best covers the temperature range you expect your liquid, gas, or solid to be. You should also make sure the thermocouple type you choose is compatible with the device you plan to connect it to. These probes are often used with temperature controllers, thermometers, and other temperature-reading devices. Remove the cap on the head to wire them to your device.
These thermocouples are manufactured to conform to ASTM E230 for accuracy. Accuracy is how far off the reported value is from the actual temperature.

Safely measure the temperature of liquids and gases in places where flammable gases, vapors, dust, and fibers are present. The head of these transmitters is FM approved and CSA certified for use in hazardous areas. It’s also NEMA 4X and IP68 rated, so it stands up to wet and dusty environments and even brief submersion. These transmitters convert readings to analog signals and send them to devices such as remote displays and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
To measure liquids, you’ll need to connect a thermowell or protective tube before immersing the probe in a tank or pipe. Otherwise, liquid will be sucked into the head through the fitting, which will damage the wiring. The probe can also be used to measure solids, such as molds and dies—it's made of stainless steel or nickel to shield against impacts. It also has a layer of magnesium oxide to protect the wiring inside the probe. For accurate readings, a spring inside the fitting pushes the probe tip forward, keeping it in constant contact with the surface you're measuring. The head has a removable cap for easy access to sensor connections.
These thermocouples are manufactured to conform to ASTM E230 for accuracy. Accuracy is how far off the reported value is from the actual temperature.

Hazardous Location Threaded Thermocouple Probes with Thermowell for Liquids and Gases

With an FM-approved explosion-proof head, these probes are safe to use around flammable gases, vapors, and dust. The included stainless steel thermowell shields them against corrosion, shock, vibration, and impact as they measure the temperature of liquids and gases. By creating a barrier, the thermowell also lets you replace the probe sensor without stopping flow or draining your system. Rated NEMA 4, these probes seal out dust and water from washdowns. To protect the wiring inside, these probes have ceramic insulation. The NPT fitting that threads into the thermowell is welded on, so you can’t adjust the probe’s length.
Pick the thermocouple type that best covers the temperature range you expect your liquid or gas to be. You should also make sure the thermocouple type you choose is compatible with the device you plan to connect it to. They’re often used with temperature controllers, thermometers, and other temperature-reading devices. Remove the cap on the head to wire them to your device.
These thermocouples are manufactured to conform to ASTM E230 for accuracy. Accuracy is how far off the reported value is from the actual temperature.
