Stainless Steel High Hex Nuts
These 18-8 stainless steel nuts have good chemical resistance and may be mildly magnetic. They are taller than standard hex nuts and provide a larger gripping area for installation with a wrench.

Metric Medium-Strength Steel Nylon-Insert Locknuts—Class 8
Made from medium-strength steel with a nylon insert, these Class 8 metric locknuts are strong enough to use on most machinery and equipment that’s prone to vibration and temperature changes. The nylon insert also won’t damage the threads on your bolt. All are reusable, but their holding power lessens with each use. Pair them with compatible Class 8.8 metric bolts.
Most of these locknuts meet ISO 7040 or ISO 10511 (formerly DIN 982 or DIN 985), which are international standards for dimensions. The ISO standards are functionally equivalent to the DIN standards with slight differences in width, height, or tolerances.
Zinc- and zinc yellow-chromate plated steel locknuts are a good option in dry environments. The zinc plating prevents the steel from corroding until the plating wears away.

Metric High-Strength Steel Flange Nuts—Class 10
Also known as collar nuts, these metric nuts have a flange that distributes pressure across the surface, so you don't need a washer. Because of the flange, they may not fit in tight spaces. Made of high-strength Class 10 steel, they’re about 25% stronger than medium-strength steel flange nuts. Their strength is comparable to Class 10.9 bolts.
When choosing your finish, consider your environment. Nuts with a black-oxide finish have mild corrosion resistance, but only in dry environments.
ISO 4161 (formerly DIN 6923) and DIN 6331 nuts meet international standards for flange nut dimensions and materials.

Sanitary Thread Caps
Cover exposed threads with these caps to help prevent bacteria growth in food processing areas and other sanitary environments. Instead of a cap without a seal, these have a silicone seal that blocks out water and contaminants. The rest is made of 304 stainless steel, which resists corrosion, even from frequent washdowns with harsh cleaners. Their smooth finish and rounded edges leave no crevices for water and bacteria to settle in, reducing the chance that a foodborne illness survives and spreads. Tighten these caps by their wrench flats to avoid scratching them. They’re up to four times as tall as our largest cap nuts, so they protect more threads.
If the seal falls off, it has metal and chemical additives so it can be picked up on metal detectors or X-ray machines—a requirement of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) programs. It’s FDA compliant for direct contact with food.

High-Profile Cap Nuts
These cap nuts offer at least three-times the thread depth of standard acorn nuts and are about twice the height. Also known as acorn nuts, they have a smooth rounded head that covers and protects threads while providing a finished appearance. Made from 18-8 stainless steel, they have good chemical resistance.
