About Selecting a Vibrator
More
Portable Magnetic-Mount Air-Powered Vibrators for Dry Materials
Move this vibrator to the source of your flow problem. It is lightweight and has a magnetic mount, so it can be attached to steel and iron containers. Use an adhesive-back metal pad (sold separately) to attach it to nonferrous containers. This vibrator is often used to shake powders, grains, and small parts in bins and hoppers with intermittent flow issues. Every 10 pounds of dry material requires one pound of force to move it. If your bin has 200 pounds of dry material, you need a vibrator with at least 20 pounds of force.

Electric Vibrators for Wet Materials
Since they generate vibration with electromagnets, these vibrators have no moving parts that can wear out and shorten service life. They pound on container walls to dislodge sticky, caked-on materials. Vibrators require a controller (sold separately). Bin wall thickness determines the force required to move the material in the bin. To select a vibrator strong enough for your application, find your bin's wall thickness in the table.
Style 4 have an internal cushion for reduced noise. They are water resistant for use in environments with splashing water.
Style 5 make direct contact with the container wall for maximum impact. They are water resistant for use in environments with splashing water.
Required controllers have an adjustable speed dial. Controllers for 3,600 VPM vibrators are rated NEMA 4 for protection against washdowns, corrosion, and dust. Choose by matching the vibrator's voltage, vibration speed, and current to the controller.

Electric Vibrating Feeders

Generating vibration with electromagnets, these have no mechanical parts that can wear out and shorten service life. A built-in vibrator shakes material to stimulate flow through the trough. They're often used to feed material in mixing or packaging operations.
Vibrating feeders with a 304 stainless steel trough are often used in wet and corrosive conditions.
Required controller adjusts speed.
