Use these lubricants for molding and casting parts that don't need to be painted in food-processing and preparation areas, or when molding parts that will be used around food. Apply them to molds before casting so you can easily remove cast parts and prevent sticking, stretching, and tearing.
All DuPont Molykote lubricants can also be used as a multipurpose lubricant to keep food-processing equipment from sticking. Use Molykote 316 Silicone Release Spray with metal. Use Molykote 7 Release Compound with plastic and rubber. It resists drying and oxidation.
Lubricants that are FDA 21 Compliant CFR 175.300 and/or meet NSF ANSI 51 can have direct contact with food. Lubricants that meet NSF/ANSI 61 are certified for use with components that come into contact with drinking water.

Lubricants with PTFE create a long-lasting film that withstands high temperatures. Lubricants with soybean fluid, also known as lecithin, are typically used with gaskets and seals. Lubricants with silicone have a small amount of silicone for lubricity, but still allow you to paint molded parts without cleaning first. Lubricants with zinc resist dust and can be used with ceramics. Lubricants with carnauba wax are also known as honey wax. Apply with the included sponge applicator.

Brush these lubricants onto your mold before casting to prevent polyurethane foam parts from sticking, stretching, and tearing. Their wax-based formula won't cause the foam to collapse as it cures. Because these lubricants leave a residue, parts should be cleaned before painting or coating.
