Containing titanium and aluminum for added hardness, K-500 nickel has double the yield strength of 400 nickel, with the same excellent corrosion resistance. Because it withstands highly corrosive environments, it’s often used in propeller shafts, ship hardware, and valves and regulators in the oil and gas industries. It also resists chloride stress corrosion better than stainless steel. Unlike 400 nickel, K-500 nickel is nonmagnetic, so it won’t damage electronics.

Use dowel pins as pivots, hinges, shafts, jigs, and fixtures to locate or hold parts. For a tight fit, your hole should be equal to or slightly smaller than the diameter shown. Breaking strength is measured as double shear, which is the force required to break a pin into three pieces.
400 nickel pins and grade 2 titanium pins resist salt water and caustic chemicals. 400 nickel, also known as Monel, may be mildly magnetic.
