How to Identify and Measure Fittings
Pipe size is an industry designation, not the actual size. View information about how to measure threaded and unthreaded pipe and pipe fittings.

Thick-Wall Galvanized Iron and Steel Threaded Pipe Nipples and Pipe
Made of galvanized iron or steel, this pipe has fair corrosion resistance. It has thick, Schedule 80 walls for good strength in medium-pressure applications.
Seamless pipe has a smooth interior for unrestricted flow and is stronger than welded pipe.
Straight reducers are also known as swage nipples.

Grooved-End Iron Pipe Fittings

The grooved ends on these fittings connect to pipe with a clamp to easily install piping systems. Since there’s no heat or threading required, they provide quick access to a pipe line for routine maintenance. Fittings are also known as Victaulic fittings. They are for use in noncorrosive applications.

Drain, Waste, and Vent Iron Pipe
Use this pipe in gravity-flow applications both above and below ground. It is also known as no-hub pipe and soil pipe. To connect, butt the end of a fitting up against pipe or another fitting and connect with a low-pressure clamp-on connector (sold separately). The clamp-on connector is also known as a no-hub coupling. Fittings are for use in noncorrosive environments. Pipe is seamless, so it has a smooth interior for unrestricted flow. It is for use in noncorrosive environments.

Twist-Claw Hose Couplings for Air and Water

Also known as Chicago and universal couplings, these have an identical claw-style head that allows you to connect to another Chicago twist-claw hose coupling, regardless of the pipe size or barbed hose ID. To connect, push two couplings together with a quarter twist. Couplings have a safety clip and lanyard to prevent accidental disconnection.
Iron couplings are stronger and more durable than other metal couplings. Use in noncorrosive environments. Warning: There is no valve in these couplings. Stop the flow of air and water before you disconnect the line.
