Often referred to as acorn nuts, these nuts have a smooth rounded head that covers and protects threads while providing a finished appearance. About half the strength of medium-strength steel cap nuts, use them in light duty fastening applications, such as securing access panels.
Chrome-plated steel cap nuts have excellent resistance to chemicals and salt water and have a decorative metallic finish.

Brass binding barrels and screws are corrosion resistant in wet environments, electrically conductive, and nonmagnetic. Use them to anchor door closers, kickplates, and other architectural hardware. The barrel head is smooth with no drive to be tampered with on the outside of your door, and the screw has a flat head that sits flush with the surface for a finished look. The screw protrudes from the barrel to leave room for hardware. Install in a hole with a diameter equal to the barrel diameter. Barrel length and screw length are measured from under the head.

The polished chrome plating not only has a shiny appearance, but also improves corrosion resistance. Also known as Class 125 fittings, these are for use in low-pressure pipe lines.
Locknuts thread onto the male end of a fitting to provide extra holding power so the fitting won’t loosen from vibration.

Slide a high-pressure hose nipple for compressed gas into one of these nuts to connect a pipe to the inlet of a pressure regulator. They are also known as CGA (Compressed Gas Association) nuts and inlet nuts.
Brass nuts have good corrosion resistance and are softer than 316 stainless steel nuts, so they're easier to thread together. Chrome-plated brass nuts have comparable corrosion and wear resistance to aluminum-plated brass nuts, and have a bright, shiny appearance.
Nuts with left-hand threads are identified with a notch.
Note: Nuts have a CGA, BS, or DIN number that corresponds to a specific type of gas. Choose a nut with the same number as your tank and other system components.
