NLGI viscosity grade is a rating of a grease's consistency. NLGI 2 is about the consistency of peanut butter.
Grease that is NSF registered H1 and grease that meets FDA 21 CFR 178.3570 are rated for incidental contact with food. Grease that meets NSF/ANSI 61 is certified for use with components that come into contact with drinking water. Synthetic-oil-based grease lasts longer than mineral-oil-based grease and generally withstands a wider range of temperatures.
Grease with PTFE thickener has good heat, moisture, and oxidation resistance. Grease with silica thickener has excellent heat and moisture resistance and good oxidation resistance.
Grease lubricates most efficiently within the listed temperature range. Nonmelting grease can be used at temperatures above the maximum temperature briefly, but then will break down more quickly. Chemours Krytox™ GPL 206 resists aggressive chemicals and is long lasting with an indefinite shelf life.

A firm consistency and resistance to evaporation make this grease ideal for vacuum applications, such as flow meters, vacuum and pressure systems, and laboratory equipment. Apply directly to seals and O-rings to prevent drying and cracking.

Mineral-oil-based grease, derived from petroleum, is more economical than synthetic-oil-based grease. Synthetic-oil-based grease lasts longer than mineral-oil-based grease and withstands a wider range of temperatures.
Grease with lithium thickener offers good heat and moisture resistance. Grease with PTFE thickener has good heat, moisture, and oxidation resistance. Grease with silica thickener resists washing off and reduces corrosion in wet environments. Grease with barium thickener is for use with silicone rubber O-rings and seals in open systems.
Grease with PTFE has small particles of PTFE that reduce friction and help the grease maintain its lubricity. Grease with zinc neutralizes acid and is a good replacement for leaded grease.

Loctite® Krytox™ RFE PFPE LB 8209 handles extreme temperature swings, resists acids, bases, and fuels, and is long lasting. It can be used under high loads.
Jet-Lube Ezy-Open is a grease-like liquid that contains detergent and PTFE additives to clean more effectively than grease while it lubricates. Since it is a liquid, it does not have a NLGI viscosity grade, but is less viscous than anything else in our offering.

This thin grease goes on as a film to form a seal in glass and metal stop cocks. It won't react with laboratory chemicals, such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, potassium hydroxide, and salt solutions.
Grease lubricates most efficiently below the maximum temperature. Melting temperature is the point at which grease will fail and run out of equipment, leaving it to run dry.
Coat tight-fitting metal parts, such as gears, clutches, and press-fit assemblies, with these lubricants before sliding them together to make assembly easier. Once assembled, they provide initial lubrication in equipment before oil has a chance to flow.
Mineral-oil-based lubricants, derived from petroleum, are more economical than synthetic-oil-based lubricants. Synthetic-oil-based lubricants last longer than mineral-oil-based lubricants.
Lubricants with moly (molybdenum disulfide) withstand high-pressure applications and have excellent wear resistance. Lubricants with graphite have additional pressure resistance and excellent temperature resistance. All Dupont Molykote lubricants have a high load-carrying capacity. Molykote M-77 Paste is commonly used on brakes and clutches; it is compatible with material that is damaged by mineral oil, such as natural rubber, SBR, and EPDM. As a paste it lubricates to 445° F; after drying, it continues to lubricate at temperatures up to 660° F. Molykote G-Rapid Plus Paste is often used to assemble threaded spindles, gears, screws, and pumps. It can be used as an initial lubricant. Molykote DX Paste has good corrosion resistance. It provides long-lasting lubrication after assembly.
