Often used for climbing electrical substations and utility towers, these kits function as a fall-arrest system during initial ascent and descent. One carabiner connects the 16-ft. anchor span rope to the climbing hook, and the other carabiner connects the rope grab to your harness. Hand tighten the included wing nut on the fiberglass pole (sold separately) to easily attach it to the climbing hook. Then, use the pole to place the hook, which is specially shaped to fit over angle iron, securely above you. The hook serves as an anchor point while climbing.
