Primers


Prepare metal, wood, and concrete for paint. Primers adhere to underlying surfaces to create a base layer that bonds well with paint for a long-lasting finish.
Use primer in an aerosol can for quick jobs and touch-ups.
Apply primer in a one-gallon can with a brush, roller, or sprayer. Use red primer on rusty and abrasive-blasted steel. Follow with a coat of gray primer. Use gray primer on galvanized steel and on all other surfaces.
Primers that cannot be sold to the regions listed exceed local regulatory limits on VOC (volatile organic compounds).

Cover stains from smoke, water, and ink to prevent them from bleeding through your topcoat, extending the life of paint and coatings.
Acrylic primer can be applied directly to metal. It resists corrosion, mold, and mildew. Apply with a brush, pad, roller, or sprayer.
Shellac primer seals in odors and has the best stain-blocking ability of any of the primers we offer. It also seals knots and sap in wood. Apply with a brush, roller, or sprayer.
