These screws are manufactured to meet Japanese Industrial Standards. Similar in appearance to Phillips, the JIS drive has a shallower opening with sharper angles and straighter internal walls. This lets them withstand more torque while preventing the driver from slipping and damaging the drive. Tighten them only with a JIS driver to avoid stripping the drive. Some JIS screws are marked with a dot near the drive for quick identification.
Length is measured from the top of the head.
Zinc-Plated Steel—A common choice for areas with occasional exposure to moisture.
Standard Profile—Standard-profile heads are the most common choice for flat head screws.
