3M Scotch-Brite Nylon Mesh Sanding Pads

A trusted name for big jobs, Scotch-Brite pads create a more consistent finish than regular sandpaper. Also known as nonwoven or surface-conditioning pads, the nylon mesh backing resists clogging and flexes to compensate for uneven sanding pressure. They’re good for everything from heavy rust removal and deburring to blending and paint prep. Cut pads to fit hand-sanding blocks.

Aluminum Oxide Abrasive—The most versatile and affordable abrasive we offer is a good choice for most sanding jobs.

Nepheline Syenite Abrasive—A very mild abrasive for cleaning plastic, wood, and soft metal without scratching. It’s often used with liquid detergents to remove minor imperfections and prepare surfaces for painting or sealing.

Model Number 7440—The most aggressive and durable pad in the Scotch-Brite lineup. Use for tough jobs, including stock removal, cleaning, and surface prep.

Model Number 7447—The go-to pads, these are good for all‑purpose surface conditioning and finishing with a consistent, controlled cut.

Model Number 7447 Pro—With a higher concentration of abrasive than standard 7447 pads, these cut faster and last longer.

Model Number 8447—Scuff and blend surfaces prior to painting them. These pads are coarser than standard 7447 pads for a higher cut rate and they work well on hard materials.

Model Number 7447 Durable Flex—Thinner and more flexible than standard 7447 pads, these wrap around tight corners and contours and squeeze into tight spaces.

Model Number 96—A nonrusting alternative to steel wool, these pads cut through heavy coatings and buildup in tough cleaning tasks.

Deburring Pads and Bricks

Debur in a flash—these pads and bricks quickly sand down burs on large flat surfaces and sharp edges. Also known as unitized blocks, they’re made by compressing multiple 3M Scotch-Brite pads together. This means they’re firm enough to nick off burs but cushioned enough to prevent gouges. The nylon mesh breaks down as you debur to expose fresh abrasive for a consistent finish. This material holds its shape, so you can cut these pads to fit specific workpieces. You can also form them into mounted points and bond them to tools. While quicker to use than deburring scrapers, they do not create as precise a cut.

Flexible—Flexible pads work well on contoured surfaces. Fold them up to squeeze them into tight areas, such as the inside edges of holes.
