How to Identify and Measure Fittings
Pipe size is an industry designation, not the actual size. View information about how to measure threaded and unthreaded pipe and pipe fittings.

Industrial Quick-Disconnect Hose Couplings for Air
A complete coupling consists of a plug and a socket (both sold separately or in a set) that connect and disconnect quickly. Use them if you need frequent access to a line. They are also known as industrial interchange couplings. All Industrial plugs are compatible with any of the Industrial sockets of the same coupling size, regardless of the pipe size or barbed hose ID.
Brass is softer than other metals, so it’s easier to thread together. It has good corrosion resistance. 303 stainless steel has very good corrosion resistance, so it’s the best choice for high-humidity environments.
NPTF (Dryseal) threads are compatible with NPT threads.
Note: To ensure a correct fit, make sure that the plug and socket have the same coupling size.
For technical drawings and 3-D models, click on a part number.
- Maximum Pressure: 300 psi @ 72° F
- Temperature Range: -40° to 225° F
- Specifications Met: See table
Sockets have a shut-off valve that stops the flow when the coupling is separated, so air won’t leak from the line.
Sleeve-lock sockets connect by sliding back the sleeve on the socket, inserting the plug, and releasing the sleeve. To disconnect, slide the sleeve back and pull out the plug.
ARO Quick-Disconnect Hose Couplings for Air
A complete coupling consists of a plug and a socket (both sold separately or in a set) that connect and disconnect quickly. Use them if you need frequent access to a line. All ARO plugs are compatible with any of the ARO sockets of the same coupling size, regardless of the pipe size or barbed hose ID.
Plugs are also known as nipples.
Steel is stronger and more durable than other metals. Zinc-plated steel has fair corrosion resistance and should be used primarily in dry environments. Nickel-plated steel has good corrosion resistance. Note: To ensure a correct fit, make sure that the plug and socket have the same coupling size.

Metal Barbed Hose Fittings for Air and Water
Slide the barbed end into rubber hose and secure with the appropriate clamp or crimp-on hose ferrule.
Brass fittings are softer than other metal fittings, so they’re easier to thread together. Plain brass fittings have good corrosion resistance. Fittings with a threaded end are also known as hose nipples.
Fittings with a 45° flared end are also known as refrigeration and SAE fittings.
NPTF (Dryseal) threads are compatible with NPT threads.

Metal Push-On Barbed Hose Fittings for Air and Water
Fittings have sharper barbs than standard barbed hose fittings to grip rubber push-on hose with no clamps or ferrules required. The more you pull on the fittings, the tighter the hose will grip.
Brass fittings are softer than other metal fittings, so they’re easier to thread together. They have good corrosion resistance. 316 stainless steel fittings have excellent corrosion resistance, so they’re the best choice for high-humidity environments.Fittings with a threaded end are also known as hose nipples. The optional installation tool (sold separately) allows you to connect large quantities of barbed fittings to push-on hose. Use the built-in cutter to squarely cut the hose without fraying. Next, lubricate either the push-on hose, fitting or both. Then, clamp the hose into the tool’s vise and apply light pressure on the handle to drive into the fitting.
NPTF (Dryseal) threads are compatible with NPT threads.
Note: To ensure proper connection, the barbed end has to be pushed in all the way, with the hose end concealed by the ring.

Screw-On Hose Fittings for Air and Water
The female connector screws directly onto rubber hose without the need for a separate adapter. You’ll need a female connector (ferrule) and a male adapter (stem) with the same hose ID to make a connection. Screw the female connector onto hose, then thread the male adapter into the female connector. When assembled, the fitting compresses against the hose, forming a strong seal. Also known as reusable fittings, they can be unscrewed from the hose end and used on a new hose.
Brass fittings are softer than 303 stainless steel fittings, so they’re easier to thread together. They have good corrosion resistance. 303 stainless steel fittings have better corrosion resistance than brass fittings.

Push-to-Connect Tube Fittings for Air
- Temperature Range: 0° to 170° F, except polybutylene plastic fittings are 32° to 140° F
- Tubing: Use with firm (Durometer 95A-45D) polyethylene plastic or polyurethane rubber
- Specifications Met: ISO 14743, except cartridges and polybutylene plastic fittings
Insert tubing into these fittings and an internal gripping ring and O-ring hold the tubing tight. They are also known as instant fittings. To disconnect, push on the release ring and pull the tubing out of the fitting. Fittings have good corrosion resistance. Use them in low-pressure applications.
Identification rings (sold separately) snap over the release ring so you can color-code your lines.
Clips (sold separately) align and organize your tubing and fittings.

Low-Temperature/High-Pressure D.O.T. Push-to-Connect Tube Fittings for Air
- Temperature Range: -40° to 200° F
- Tubing: Use with hard (Durometer 65D) nylon plastic
- Specifications Met: D.O.T. FMVSS 571
In addition to handling low temperatures, these fittings can also withstand higher pressures than other push-to-connect D.O.T. fittings. Commonly used in air brake lines, they meet Department of Transportation FMVSS 571 safety standards. Fittings connect to tubing with a push, and an internal gripping ring and O-ring hold the tubing tight. Fittings have a built-in tube support that slips inside the tubing to prevent it from collapsing. To disconnect, push on the release ring and pull the tubing out of the fitting. Fittings are also known as instant fittings. They have good corrosion resistance.

High-Pressure Quick-Disconnect Tube Couplings for Air
Not only do these chrome-plated brass couplings have excellent corrosion resistance, they also withstand pressures up to 250 psi. Couplings consist of a plug and a socket (sold separately) that join with a latch, so you can frequently connect and disconnect your line. To connect, insert the plug into the socket; to disconnect, press the latch on the socket and remove the plug.
Plugs and Sockets with shut-off have a valve to stop the flow when the coupling is separated, so air won’t leak from your line.
Note: For a complete coupling, order a plug and a socket with the same coupling size.

Plastic Compression Tube Fittings for Air
- For Use With: Air, Lubricated Air
- Temperature Range: -30° to 210° F
- Tubing: Use with firm or hard nylon plastic, polyethylene plastic or polypropylene plastic
Lighter in weight than their metal counterparts, these compression fittings are polypropylene. They have excellent impact and abrasion resistance. Fittings include a nut with a built-in sleeve (ferrule), so there’s no need to remove the nut for assembly. The sleeve compresses the tubing as you tighten the nut, creating a strong seal. Fittings are also known as flareless fittings.
Tube supports (sold separately) are recommended if you want to use the fittings with soft nylon, polypropylene, and polyethylene tubing to prevent the tube from collapsing.

- Temperature Range: 0° to 175° F
- Tubing: Use with firm or hard (Durometer 80A-60D) FEP, polyethylene, or PTFE plastic
Fittings are 316 stainless steel, which has excellent chemical resistance and is more durable than plastic. Also known as instant fittings, they connect to tubing with a push, and an internal gripping ring and O-ring hold the tubing tight. Instead of a release ring, these fittings have a release sleeve that slides back to disconnect tubing.
