    Peel-Away Multilayer Shim Stock

Image of ProductInUse. Front orientation. Shim Stock. Peel Away, Sold Individually, Multilayer.
Fine-tune thickness without worrying about stacking multiple shims. Cut the shim stock into custom shapes that suit your needs. It's made of layers of material bonded with adhesive—peel off the layers with a utility knife until you reach your desired thickness. To make peeling easier, warm the created shims to soften the adhesive. With thickness tolerances as fine as a strand of hair, the shims will precisely align, space, and level components on dies, presses, and machinery.
18-8 Stainless Steel—The choice for wet and outdoor areas because it resists rust. However, it will corrode or pit when exposed to salt water and chemicals.
Carbon Steel—Best for dry areas since moisture will cause it to rust.
Aluminum—An alternative to stainless steel for rust resistance but less hard so it may not retain its shape. One-third the weight of steel, it's often used in robotics and automation.
Brass—Picked for its warm, polished look. Similar to 18-8 stainless steel, it resists rusting in wet and outdoor areas.
Polyimide—Originally designed for military aircraft, it’s used in everything from aerospace to electronics where weight, electrical insulation, and precision are vital.
Temper Rating—Choose half hard to create shims that you’ll need to bend or shape. Opt for full hard to make stronger shims that will maintain their shape under loads.

    High-Strength 1075 Spring Steel Strips

Image of Product. Front orientation. Steel. High-Strength 1075 Spring Steel Strips.
Create high-strength parts that compress and extend without losing shape, such as springs, shims, and clips. Also known as scaleless steel, this 1075 spring steel comes hardened for extra wear and fatigue resistance. However, you’ll need to cut it to shape since it’s too hard to form. For more complex shaping, consider annealed 1075 spring steel sheets, or 1050 for the tightest bends.

    Formable 1095 Spring Steel Sheets

Image of Product. Front orientation. Steel. Formable 1095 Spring Steel Sheets.
These sheets are annealed to soften their temper, so they can be formed into shape and then heat treated for spring properties. They’re made from 1095 spring steel, which is more wear resistant than 1075 spring steel because of its higher carbon content. These sheets are often made into parts that will be used under continual stress, such as spring clips and washers.

    Ultra-Formable 260 Brass Strips

Image of Product. Front orientation. Brass. Ultra-Formable 260 Brass Strips.
The most formable brass alloy we offer. With its high copper content and little to no lead, 260 is so soft you can bend it at room temperature. It's often shaped into ammunition casings, radiator components, and decorative door hardware. Also known as cartridge brass.

Multipurpose Formable 1050 Spring Steel Sheets

Image of Product. Front orientation. Steel. Multipurpose Formable 1050 Spring Steel Sheets.
Containing more carbon than low-carbon steel—but less than 1095 spring steel—1050 spring steel is easily formed into parts such as washers, brackets, and springs before being hardened for use. It resists stress, so it won’t snap when formed or twisted. Because it has a lower carbon content than 1095 spring steel, it’s not as wear resistant.

    Shim Stock

Image of Product. Front orientation. Shim Stock. Sold Individually.
Cut into custom shapes to create shims that suit your needs. With thickness tolerances as fine as a strand of hair, the shims will precisely align, space, and level components on dies, presses, and machinery.
You can stack multiple shims to achieve your exact thickness, but stacking more than four may cause them to shift. Remember, fewer shims are better, so a couple of thicker shims are more stable than a bunch of thin shims.
Stress-Resistant Spring Steel—Harder and holds its shape better than carbon steel. Use it for high-stress applications, such as leveling heavy machinery. It's best for dry areas since moisture will cause it to rust.
Temper Rating—Choose half hard to create shims that you’ll need to bend or shape. Opt for full hard to make stronger shims that will maintain their shape under loads.

    Metal Panels

Close off openings in structures while allowing air to pass through.
    Expanded Panels—Flattened
Image of Product. Front orientation. Contains Annotated, Border. Metal Panels. Expanded Panels—Flattened.
Image of Specification. Front orientation. Contains Annotated. Flattened.
Expanded panels are more rigid than perforated panels and are for use when structural stability is important. They can be formed and welded; however, they are more difficult to cut than perforated panels.
Flattened panels begin as raised panels, then they're rolled to a smooth and flat finish. Use them to create protective enclosures, shelving, grilles, and baskets.
3003 Aluminum—3003 aluminum is easier to form than 1100 aluminum. It's about half the weight of steel and resists corrosion in wet environments.

    High-Strength 1075 Spring Steel Sheets

Image of Product. Front orientation. Steel. High-Strength 1075 Spring Steel Sheets.
Form high-strength springs, shims, and clips. 1075 spring steel is easier to shape than 1095 because it’s alloyed with less carbon. For more complex forming, consider 1050 spring steel instead. Once made into a part and heat treated, 1075 continues to hold its shape when compressed and extended, but not as well as 1095.
