    Disposable Batteries

    These batteries hold more power than rechargeable batteries but must be replaced more frequently. When choosing a battery, use the capacity, measured in milliampere-hours, to compare among similar sizes. The higher the mA-hr. rating, the longer the battery should last.

    D Battery

    Reduce battery costs by powering devices with rechargeable batteries. These batteries work well in high-drain devices such as digital cameras.     Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) Battery—Nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries last longer than nickel cadmium batteries. Recharging without completely draining first does not affect battery life.
    Nickel Cadmium (NiCad) Battery—Nickel cadmium (NiCad) batteries should be drained completely before recharging for maximum battery life.
