    Washers

    Small but mighty, our thinnest rolling thrust bearings slot into tight spaces and spin at whirring speeds. Their long, slender rollers support thrust loads and reduce friction in everything from machine tool spindles to gearboxes.
    A cage holds the rollers in place. You can install these bearings without washers between hardened, ground surfaces for the thinnest profile. If you’re working with unhardened, unground surfaces, you’ll need two washers for the rollers to run on. This three-piece design is easy to lubricate, but the oil will attract dust and grime since it’s exposed.
    Steel—Strong and wear resistant. However, these bearings are best for dry environments since moisture will cause them to rust.

    Install and forget these self-lubricating bearings. All are made from porous metal and saturated with oil to reduce maintenance and downtime. A good all-around choice, they are used in everything from palm-sized fans in electronics to tire-sized pulleys. Although these bearings will work in most conditions, oil may drip away if temperatures get too high. Consider a graphite-lubricated bearing for higher temperatures or places where you can’t afford the mess. All are fabricated, lubricated, and inspected in the U.S.

    Oil-Embedded Thrust Bearings

    Our simplest-to-use thrust bearings, with no moving parts and no need to lubricate. Their porous surface releases oil over time, so you can install and forget them. While they run in most conditions, oil may drip away if temperatures climb too high. For extremely hot environments, consider graphite-lubricated bearings. All are fabricated, lubricated, and inspected in the U.S.
    Extreme-Load Heat-Treated Iron Copper—Our strongest oil-embedded thrust bearings. They're heat treated to form a uniform internal grain that makes them stronger than 863 iron copper. As a result, they're often used to support extreme loads in earth-moving equipment and railroad applications. The increased iron content also makes them appear silver.
    Mineral Oil Base—Mineral oil consistently lubricates at most temperatures but doesn’t last as long as synthetic oil.

They improve accuracy so your drilled holes and cuts are consistent from part to part. Known for their versatility, drill bushings are also used as spacers, shims, and machinery bushings.
    Press into place with a manual or hydraulic press. Since these bushings are sized slightly larger than the hole for an extremely tight fit, they’ll stay put permanently.     A flanged head on these bushings acts as a stop, so they won’t press through your jig even under extreme drilling pressure. They’re ANSI Type H bushings, also known as headed bushings. The head adds support and protects the jig from damage caused by heavy use, so they’re often used in jigs made of thin or soft materials. These bushings guide your drill bit, reamer, or other cutting bit to create accurate, consistent holes from one workpiece to the next. They’re also used as spacers, shims, and machinery bushings. Made of hardened, ground steel, they hold their shape and resist wear, so they last for many cycles without needing to be replaced.
    To install, fit the bushing into a hole in your jig. In a standard hole, the head will sit above the jig plate; to mount flush, install in a countersunk hole. A chamfered edge on the bottom of the bushing helps center the bushing in the hole. Once it’s centered, press the bushing into place with a hydraulic or lever press.

    Replace worn bushings and quickly change IDs without needing to repeatedly use a lever press. Instead of pressing bushings in and out of your jig fixture, which can cause damage, these bushings slide in and out of sleeves (sold separately). By swapping in a bushing with a different ID, you can change the size of your bit and still use the same hole in your fixture. All are made to tight dimensional tolerances for consistent, accurate results, even as you change them in and out. They're also known as slip-fixed and renewable bushings.
    Choose a sleeve with a length that matches the length of your bushing. To prevent bushings from spinning inside the sleeve as you drill, pair a standard sleeve with a lock screw, or use a locking sleeve. For faster placement in and removal from sleeves, use a handle.
