How to Identify and Measure Fittings
Pipe size is an industry designation, not the actual size. View information about how to measure threaded and unthreaded pipe and pipe fittings.

Push-to-Connect Fittings for Plastic Tubing—Food and Beverage
- Temperature Range: 35° to 140° F
- Tubing: See table
- Specifications Met:
White Polypropylene: NSF/ANSI 51, NSF/ANSI 61
Black Polypropylene: FDA Compliant 21 CFR 176.170, NSF/ANSI 58, NSF/ANSI 372
Acetal: NSF/ANSI 51, NSF/ANSI 61
Also known as instant fittings, these connect to tubing with a push, and an internal gripping ring and O-ring hold the tubing tight. To disconnect fittings with a release ring, push on the release ring and pull the tubing out of the fitting.
Polypropylene fittings have excellent impact and abrasion resistance. They meet NSF/ANSI standards for safe use with food. Some are also FDA compliant for indirect contact with food.
Acetal fittings resist moisture, so they won’t soften and lose strength in humid environments. They meet NSF/ANSI 51 for safe use with food and NSF/ANSI 61 for safe use with drinking water.
Black fittings have excellent UV resistance and are suitable for outdoor environments.

Through-wall fittings are also known as bulkhead couplings and panel-mount couplings; they mount through your wall or panel to create an inlet or outlet.

Quick-Disconnect Tube Couplings for Food and Beverage
- Temperature Range:
Acetal Plastic: -40° to 180° F
Polypropylene Plastic: 32° to 160° F - Tubing:
Barbed Fittings: Use with soft or firm (Durometer 65A-80A) polyurethane rubber
Compression Fittings: Use with hard or firm (Durometer 80A-60D) nylon or polyethylene plastic - Specifications Met: NSF/ANSI 169
Couplings consist of a plug and a socket (sold separately) that join with a latch, so you can frequently connect and disconnect your line. To connect, insert the plug into the socket; to disconnect, press the latch on the socket and remove the plug. They’re made of FDA-approved materials, including moisture-resistant plastic that won’t absorb liquid and lose strength, even in high-humidity food and beverage applications.
Plugs and sockets with shut-off have a valve to stop the flow when the coupling is separated, so fluid won’t spill from your line.
Note: For a complete coupling, order a plug and a socket with the same coupling size.

Barbed sockets insert into tubing and secure with a clamp.
Through-wall sockets are also known as bulkhead sockets and panel-mount sockets; they mount through your wall or panel to create an inlet or outlet.

Compression Tube Fittings for Food and Beverage
- Temperature Range: -40° to 200° F
- Tubing: Use with firm or hard (Durometer 45D-65D) EVA plastic, nylon plastic, polyethylene plastic, polypropylene plastic, or polyurethane rubber
- Specifications Met: NSF/ANSI 51
A single sleeve (ferrule) and a gripping ring compress the tubing as you tighten the nut, creating a strong seal. The nut, sleeve, and gripping ring are included. Fittings are also known as flareless fittings. They are nylon for excellent impact and abrasion resistance.

Tube supports are recommended if you want to use fittings with soft plastic and rubber tubing to prevent the tube from collapsing.
