About Cam Latches and Locks

Snap-In Triangle-Drive Cam Locks

Quickly snap these locks into a through-hole cutout—there’s no need to fasten them with a screw. All fit snugly in their cutout to stand up to the same vibration as a traditional cam lock will. Also known as quarter-turn locks, these locks have an arm that rotates 90° to secure enclosures. The locks help maintain your sealed enclosure's IP rating for low-pressure washdowns to help keep their contents safe from water damage.
These locks open with a triangle key, so they’re more secure than locks that open with a hex or slotted driver yet still match a common keying system for industrial enclosures and other machinery. They have a concealed design to stop others from tampering with them using pliers.
All of these locks include one cam with a fixed latching distance. Since you won’t have to adjust the cam into position, they are faster to install than those with an adjustable latching distance.
Locks that meet UL 94 V-0 self-extinguish in the event of a fire.

Snap-In Two-Way-Drive Cam Locks

Quickly snap these locks into a through-hole cutout—no need to fasten them with a screw. They fit snugly in their cutout to stand up to the same vibration that traditional cam locks withstand. These locks open with a two-way key, also called a double-bit key. This means they match a keying system that’s common for industrial enclosures, but they’re more secure than locks that open with a hex key or screwdriver. Their flat, concealed design also stops others from tampering with them using pliers.
These locks include one cam with a fixed latching distance. Since you don’t have to adjust the cam into position, they’re faster to install than those with an adjustable latching distance. The cam rotates 90° to secure enclosures, so they’re also known as quarter-turn locks. Made of nylon, these locks are lightweight and won’t corrode from moisture. They help keep your sealed enclosure’s contents safe from dust and water damage, maintaining your enclosure’s IP65 rating.
Locks that meet UL 94 V-0 self-extinguish if they catch fire.

Tight-Hold Wing-Handle Cam Latches

It’s harder to snag straps and other items on these wing-handle latches than on T- or L-handle latches. Also known as compression cam latches, these create a tighter hold than a traditional cam latch, making them useful for doors that have a seal. Turn the head a quarter turn to latch, then turn it another quarter turn to create compression and minimize rattling from vibration. A gasket helps keep dust and water from washdowns from entering through the latch. This helps you maintain your sealed enclosure's IP or NEMA rating.
Latches with a fixed latching distance are best when you know the precise distance you need. Since you won’t have to adjust the cam into position, these are faster to install than those with an adjustable latching distance. Latches with offset cams include multiple cams, so you can change the fixed latching distance. Stainless steel and plastic latches are more corrosion resistant than zinc latches, so they're better for use in wet environments. The plastic latches are also nonconductive and lighter in weight. However, they’re easier to drill into or tamper with than the metal latches. All meet UL 94 V-0, so they will self-extinguish in the event of a fire.
Style D latches have a handle that folds down and out of the way when it’s not in use.
