About Cam Latches and Locks

Snap-In Keyed Alike Cam Locks

Quickly snap these locks into a through-hole cutout—there’s no need to fasten them with a screw. All fit snugly in their cutout to stand up to the same vibration as a traditional cam lock will. Also known as quarter-turn locks, these locks have an arm that rotates 90° to secure enclosures. Each cam has a fixed latching distance. Since you won’t have to adjust the cams into position, these locks are faster to install than those with an adjustable latching distance. Choose these locks if you need several locks that open with the same key.
Zinc locks have a stainless steel shutter that blocks rain, snow, and dirt from entering the lock cylinder, which can cause internal damage. All of these locks mount in an irregular installation hole. They come with multiple cams to accommodate different latching distances.

Press the button and the handle snaps open; push the handle shut for a secure hold. Also known as compression cam latches, these locks anchor your door shut using a lever with a screw at the end instead of a standard cam. Turn the screw to adjust the latching distance and tension. The handle folds into a recessed position to stay out of the way. Choose them if you need several locks that open with the same key.
Nylon plastic locks work well in damp and humid environments. They have a stainless steel shutter that blocks rain, snow, and dirt from entering the cylinder, preventing internal damage.

Swing-Handle Keyed Alike Cam Locks
Often installed on server cabinets and electrical panels, these locks have a handle that swings smoothly when you lift it to latch and unlatch the door. The handle lies flat when locked, which means it won’t snag anything passing by. All have a cam that rotates to keep doors closed. Choose these locks if you need several locks that open with the same key.
Locks with a fixed latching distance are best when you know the precise distance you need. Since you won’t have to adjust the cam into position, these are faster to install than those with an adjustable latching distance. All include multiple cams, so you can change the fixed latching distance.
Locks with an adjustable latching distance handle a wide range of latching distances, so they’re best for tasks when precise distances are unknown. Adjust the position of the cam before you begin to install them.
Stainless steel and plastic locks are more corrosion resistant than zinc locks. They won’t corrode in areas that are constantly exposed to moisture. Plastic locks are also nonconductive and lighter in weight. However, they’re easier to drill into or tamper with than metal locks.
Locks with a stainless steel shutter block rain, snow, and dirt from entering the lock cylinder, which can cause internal damage. These locks also help keep your sealed enclosure's contents safe from water damage because they help maintain an enclosure's IP rating for low-pressure washdowns.
Padlockable locks can be used with a padlock for extra security.

Pry-Resistant Swing-Handle Keyed Alike Cam Locks

Stop burglars from breaking in with saws, screwdrivers, pliers, and other common tools—these locks meet RC2 security standards. Often installed on server cabinets and electrical panels, they have a handle that swings smoothly when you lift it to latch and unlatch the door. The handle lies flat when locked, which means it won’t snag anything passing by. These locks are keyed alike, so choose them if you need several locks that open with the same key.
Also known as quarter-turn locks, these locks have a cam that rotates 90° as you swing the handle. They come with multiple cams, so you can change their fixed latching distance. An O-ring stops dust and water from getting into your sealed enclosure through the lock. This helps you maintain the enclosure’s IP65 rating. For extra protection, they also have a shutter that guards the cylinder from water and dust.

Washdown L-Handle Keyed Alike Padlockable Cam Locks
Keep the contents of your sealed enclosure safe from water damage with these locks that help maintain the enclosure's IP or NEMA rating for low-pressure washdowns. Also known as quarter-turn locks, they have an arm that rotates 90° to secure your enclosures. All of the locks can be locked with a key as well as a padlock for added security. Choose them if you need several locks that open with the same key.
All of the cams in these locks have a fixed latching distance. Since you won’t have to adjust the cams into position, these locks are faster to install than those with an adjustable latching distance. Locks with a roller cam rotate more smoothly than those with straight and offset cams, making them easier to open and close. The cam won't scrape paint or metal chips off the frame that can damage sensitive electronics inside the enclosure. The roller cam also compresses a bit to help eliminate rattling noises from vibration.

Swing-Handle Keyed Multipoint Locks

Create a keyed locking system that fastens doors at multiple points. The swing-handle lock rotates smoothly when you lift the handle to latch and unlatch the door. The handle lies flat when locked, which means it won’t snag anything passing by. This lock is often installed on server cabinets and electrical panels. It comes with multiple cams, so you can change its fixed latching distance.
You first need a swing-handle lock, which acts as the base for these locks. Add a latch point by connecting an inline or 90° cam latch using a cam latch adapter (sold separately). For each latch point, you’ll need a cam latch, a rod, and two rod adapters. Weld cam latches to the inside of your enclosure door.
Choose keyed alike locks when you need several locks that open with the same key.

Tight-Hold Swing-Handle Keyed Multipoint Locks

Pair a handle with a cam latch and rod to create a keyed latching system that securely fastens doors at multiple points. Also known as compression cam locks, these locks create a tighter hold than a traditional cam lock, making them useful for doors that have a seal. Turn the handle a quarter turn to lock, then turn it another quarter turn to create compression and minimize rattling from vibration. The handle lies flat when locked, which means it won’t snag anything passing by. Choose these locks if you need several locks that open with the same key.
Add a padlock to keyed/padlockable handles for an added layer of security. These handles are often used in lockout-tagout procedures to ensure equipment is properly shut off.
Weld cam latches to the inside of your enclosure door. All come with multiple cams, so you can change their fixed latching distance. Latches for one rod can be used as the main latch with a handle to control one additional latch point. You can also use them as a final latch point along a line in your multipoint system. Latches for two rods can be used as the main latch with a handle that controls two additional latch points. Or use them as a midpoint latch that is controlled by the main latch for operating yet another latch along your multipoint system. Use 90° redirect cam latches on the inside corners of your door to redirect your multi-point latching system 90° and add additional points along other edges of the door.
Rods connect latches to each other. Cut them to the length you need.
