Hairpin Cotter Pins
Secure components more quickly than standard cotter pins. One prong is already bent, so just push into a hole for installation in one step. Although hairpins are reusable, they don’t withstand vibration as well as standard and hammer-set cotter pins. Also known as hitch pin clips and R-clips.

Zinc-Plated Spring Steel—These pins withstand occasional exposure to moisture. However, since friction from moving parts can wear away the finish, they're not ideal for wet environments. While not nearly as corrosion resistant as stainless steel, they are stronger and won’t deform under stress.
Spring Steel—Stronger than stainless steel, these pins won't deform from stress and vibration. They perform best in dry environments since moisture will cause them to rust.

Long-Life Hairpin Cotter Pins
You can use these pins over and over without reducing their hold, and they're quicker to install than standard cotter pins. One prong is already bent, so just push into a hole to secure parts in one step. Although the coil maintains tension, hairpins don’t withstand vibration as well as standard and hammer-set cotter pins. Also known as hitch pin clips and R-clips.

Zinc-Plated Spring Steel—These pins withstand occasional exposure to moisture. However, since friction from moving parts can wear away the finish, they're not ideal for wet environments. While not nearly as corrosion resistant as stainless steel, they are stronger and won’t deform under stress.
Spring Steel—Stronger than stainless steel, these pins won't deform from stress and vibration. They perform best in dry environments since moisture will cause them to rust.

Bow-Tie Cotter Pins
Push or pull these pins into either side of the hole. The double-head design clinches them around a shaft, so there’s little chance they will get shaken or knocked out of place. Bow-tie pins are quicker to install and remove than wraparound pins but are not quite as secure. Like wraparound pins, these are reusable.

These pins come in a range of sizes to fit various clevis pin diameters, and you can install them in a single step. One prong is already bent, so just push them into a hole and pins stay in place to secure components. Although hairpins are reusable, they don’t withstand vibration as well as standard cotter pins. Also known as hitch pin clips and R-clips.
Zinc-Plated Spring Steel—These pins withstand occasional exposure to moisture. However, since friction from moving parts can wear away the finish, they're not ideal for wet environments. While not nearly as corrosion resistant as stainless steel, they are stronger and won’t deform under stress.
