Also known as axial-feed knurls, these have a convex face, which produces a cleaner pattern and lasts longer than standard knurls. Pair them with a knurling tool to create patterns on a workpiece for an improved grip. To produce a diamond pattern, choose one right-hand and one left-hand spiral knurl. These knurls are M42 tool steel, also known as cobalt steel, which is harder and lasts longer than M1 high-speed steel. They have a ground finish for close tolerances, and their smooth teeth provide a clean knurled surface.
