Countersinks for Rivets

Cut a cone-shaped opening in a hole to install your rivet flush with the surface. The 100°, 110°, and 120° countersink angles are compatible with standard rivet heads.

Cobalt Steel

Tough and wear resistant, these countersinks last at least twice as long as high-speed steel. They can also run up to 25% faster at higher temperatures without chipping on hard materials, such as nickel.

Carbide

The hardest and most wear-resistant countersinks you can buy. They stay sharp at high temperatures and faster speeds for the best performance on hard and difficult-to-machine materials. They last 10 to 20 times longer than their closest alternative, cobalt steel. Carbide can be brittle, however, so use a rigid machine tool holder to prevent breakage.

Titanium Carbon Nitride (TiCN) Coated—The hard, smooth finish prevents chipping and wear and reduces friction to keep material from building up.

Titanium Aluminum Nitride (TiAlN) Coated—Harder than TiCN, these countersinks cut without chipping in iron, titanium, and other metals as hard as Rockwell C50.

Aluminum Titanium Nitride (AlTiN) Coated—Our hardest and most wear-resistant countersinks, these cut through metals as hard as Rockwell C70 without losing their sharp cutting edges.

Countersink Sets for Rivets

Cut cone-shaped recesses for rivets of various diameters so the head sits flush with the surface.

High-Speed Steel—These versatile, wear-resistant countersinks cut cleanly in most materials, including plastic, aluminum, and steel.

Carbide—The hardest and most wear-resistant countersinks you can buy. They stay sharp at high temperatures and faster speeds for the best performance on hard and difficult-to-machine materials. They last 10 to 20 times longer than their closest alternative, cobalt steel. Carbide can be brittle, however, so use a rigid machine tool holder to prevent breakage.

Black Oxide—The dark finish increases wear resistance and reduces friction to improve chip flow, so these can last 50% longer than uncoated countersinks.

Titanium Carbon Nitride (TiCN) Coated—The hard, smooth finish prevents chipping and wear and reduces friction to keep material from building up.

Titanium Aluminum Nitride (TiAlN) Coated—Harder than TiCN, these countersinks cut without chipping in iron, titanium, and other metals as hard as Rockwell C50.

Aluminum Titanium Nitride (AlTiN) Coated—Our hardest and most wear-resistant countersinks, these cut through metals as hard as Rockwell C70 without losing their sharp cutting edges.

Reverse Countersinks for Rivets

If an obstruction blocks access for standard countersinks, these tools enter from the reverse side instead. They're often used to add countersunk holes to surfaces in preassembled parts. Put the shank (sold separately) in your drill chuck and insert it all the way through the hole. Then reach into the confined space to stick the countersink head onto the shank. Pull back on the drill to countersink the hole.
