Wheels for steel and stainless steel are aluminum oxide, which is the most common abrasive used in grinding metal.
Wheels for aluminum, brass, and bronze are silicon carbide, which cuts through soft metals without generating much heat or causing material buildup.

Bench and Pedestal Grinding Wheels with Nylon Mesh for Deburring Metals
The abrasive-embedded mesh construction provides a cushioned grind. Also known as convolute wheels.
Medium-density wheels conform to surfaces better than hard-density wheels. Use for blending tool marks, light deburring, and creating a bright surface finish.
Hard- and extra-hard density wheels are more durable for aggressive material removal and heavy deburring.
